I'm running Ubuntu AMD64 10.4 with the latest Spring release 0.82.7.1. I've recently started to get into Spring - I have Balanced Annihilation latest and Evolution test 38, amongst others. I've been hitting very high cpu in the AI players once combat begins, with KAIK and AAI. RAI doesn't seem to build anything offensive in Evolution RTS, which makes it a rather weak opponent.
I'm seeing 98% or 99% cpu with ping times in excess of 2000ms, so the game is extremely choppy and unplayable once this kicks in.
Before I dig deeper into this, has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Evolution RTS has it's own built in AI. Use that. Kaik, rai, etc only work with alphabet soup mods.

Re: High cpu times during combat with AI opponents
Thanks for the hint. After upgrading my box from 1Gb to 2Gb RAM, I can now happily be slaughtered by the Evolution bots - as the AI kicks into combat mode, the memory usage spikes dramatically higher and with just 1Gb it was paging my system into the ground.Forboding Angel wrote:Evolution RTS has it's own built in AI. Nice mod by the way. I've dabbled with Spring over the years and Evo is a fast-paced, get slaughtered in 20 minutes mod which fits my limited playing time perfectly.

arggg
1 gb of ram...
Dude, seriously, 2gb is the bare minimum for pretty much any modern OS using modern proggies, doing modern things
I'm glad you are able to play now, but it stands to reason that if you play on the bare minimum hardware that you end up with the bare minimum of performance *shrug*
