I am by no means a beer connoisseur but I'd like to see what other people recommend, either from their parts of the world, or others.
Some regional beers I've liked in the past:
- Arrogant Bastard Ale from Stone Brewery: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/147/92
Henry Weinhard (brewery)- Average rating Pacific North West company
New Belgian (brewery)- Slightly overated, but never the less good Colorado beer
Blue Moon (Belgian Style)- Closest to domestic beer that I really like, I think they are now owned by Coors (yuk).
Tecate - (actually Mexican domestic) for feeling casual, just add lime or lemon for a nice hot summer day.
St Arnold (brewery)- A decent Texan company with some nice seasonals (Oktoberfest is good).
From non US:
- Guinness - of course...
Spaten (brewery)- I like their 'Optimater'
Blanche de Bruxelles - very good Belgian
Weihenstephaner Vitus - kind of flowery, but pretty awesome treat
There's a English brown ale that was highly recommended to me, I just can't remember the name. I need to try that.
Pressureline recommended this Russian Ale which I'd be willing to try if I can find it: http://www.rvinz.com/_product_59256/Arsenalnoye
edit: yeah triple post... bad connection issues.. not trying to spam the off topic or anything..
