TASClient dies on startup

Win Server 2008r2 (basically Win 7 64 bit) TASclient crashes on startup every time, has done so for several versions (maybe as long as I have had 2008r2 installed, I don't remember) I know it worked fine on server 2003. DEP disabled for TASClient.exe. Splash screen shows up, runs through some text on the bottom, then I get the error below before I ever see the lobby window itself.

Would be happy to provide any more info I can.
