springsetting and uikeys.txt

Post by zwzsg »

SpringSetting should not touch my uikeys.txt until I tell it to.

Please add a 'save' button to the Hotkeys tab, and do not do anything with my uikeys.txt until I click it.

Ok guys, I will do a save-button. Seems to be the only solution. But maybe I may add that I think its a pity that none of you guys tried to explain your problems in a way that would have helped to really fix that stuff.

Wow, thats a hell of a binding file, thanks! I will consider this beast my worst cast testing scenario. I will look into it.

Btw:
More non-working uikeys.txts are welcome.

@gine:
Found (and fixed) two bugs in the hotkeys stuff, your uikeys.txt is working now in my version. One bug was related to having comments right after a binding command. The other was related to keys that have more than 9 commands assigned. You will find a binary in the springlobby package soon I think.
You probably still dont want your uikeys.txt to get completely reordered when using springsettings, right? Must have been some days of work to write that beast.

As long as it does not touch my file I will use new springsettings. Glad u found error.

I guess your user friendly editor will help new players, not IT pros like me :wink:

Yea its a big binding file, but very usefull to me.

I've pulled vbs' fixes into my master and prepared a build of that for you guys to test before I release it into mainline SL: http://www.springlobby.info/temp/builds ... bugfix.zip

Well, at the moment it still does. But I am thinking about something like this:
If you dont want springsettings to modify your uikeys.txt you put the line

Code: Select all

//SPRINGSETTINGS DO NOT TOUCH
somewhere in your file.
If springsettings sees this it runs away in fear and wont even think about touching your file.

The advantage is that the regular springsettings behavior does not have to be changed (no cluttered UI -> keep it clear and simple for noobs). But uikeys-hackers still have an easy method to tell springsettings to stay away. Maybe that keyword could be documented in the default uikeys.txt.

I use accented letters as some hotkeys (like á, í etc.). These have to be in hex form in uikeys.txt, but the hotkey editor change them back to á, í etc. Now i have to always rewrite after using springsettings.
