tbh, I don't mine playing on private servers instead of public ones...
indeed... public servers would be stupid shit where everyone just trolls around and makes u mad
and million euros is quickly spent in that magnitude of free servers...
Not really a good idea, mp only started working when he got to beta. so servers are pointless IMO, that and people play just fine on private servers. There are some swank private servers:

Now that is if you like building.
I like survival. Now I know, I have read the arguments that it is easy. My friends and I have been playing coop smp with monsters etc. Last night we finally found a dungeon, thing had piles of zombies, 2 spiders and a creeper. I died taking out the creeper and spider while 3 zombies attacked me from behind but my ally was able to take out the rest because I meat shielded for him. When you play the game and actually go take on groups of monsters instead of playing it safe it can be quite challenging and fun.
Now some will say, but, but, in dwarf fort you have all these massive battles. Yes and you control a dwarf population. I played my share of text games, over a decade ago, I have no desire to relive that. "dwarf fort is deeper than your old shitty text game" I played a guy who had skills in ankle biting and made his money by finding old people to stone to death. I like games where you are a singular character and no the dwarf fort adventure mode doesn't do it for me.
"so what about the whole building aspect" yep, I have spent the first week on our new server building safe houses, supply centers, docks for boats, mapping river entrances digging channels etc. All so that the 10 of us can easily navigate the above ground. I have supply depots where people run into trouble frequently and our spawn zone has a safe-house for when you are an unlucky fuck who spawns at night. After we established all of this, we proceeded to farm leather for armor, stored it in chests and then farmed meat and string for bows and fishing poles. We are now in the phase where I am trying to get ample spare bows establish gravel pits for flint arrow tips and farm areas for livestock.
after all this is done, we resume our subterranean hunt for the evil hordes beneath our continent.
Does this mean some people spend more time just building, yes, it does. The rest of us are scouts and track down supplies for the builders. All in a cooperative spirit.
