Re: SpringFiles 3.0 stay or go?
I can't login anymore to SpringFiles. Do I have to create a new account, or is it a bug, or is it just me?

you can login with your old account, but you have to create a new passzwzsg wrote:I can't login anymore to SpringFiles. Do I have to create a new account, or is it a bug, or is it just me?
The advertisement are now better positioned so they aren't very disturbing.* Not loving the 2 giant advertisements, no google text ads?
* Why are the menu sections collapsable? It doesnt serve any utility in this case
* Because to view the site correctly requires a minimum of 1200px in screen width, which not everyone has, even some high end laptops barely scrape this and fail because of window borders and scrollbars
* Considering the spacious width, a large quantity of it is wasted on blank space that serves no aesthetic purpose, almost a whole third of the login box could be shaved off, and that box could then be moved up yet again to save width space
* Why on earth would I want to know that there are 36 guests and 1 active user? Speed up pages by cutting out useless stuff and focusing on the whole point of the page
* No favicon?
* Forums? Unload unnecessary modules and plugins!
* Your jquery is out of date massively, 3 years to be precise! Your using 1.2.6, the rest of the internet has 1.4.4
* There's a long list of items that have missing expiry dates for caches, and some of them look like they're being dynamically generated on each page load, including jquery, why waste this time and effort? Just serve the files static
* CSS goes in the <head>, javascript goes just before </body> where possible
The width has been chosen because 90% can show it without problems, 10% won't see the sidebar, but they can see the main content.
The sidebars are collapsable so users can hide content they are not interested in. (provides more space for other things.)
The favicon is uploaded, its somewhere in your cache.
Jquery needs an update and a download site needs a forum.
Better space things out then show them all in a tiny box. We dont have a massive screen for nothing.
.Site is not slow by itself and it newly runs on main spring server (springrts.com) which is faster and uses caching well.
But it suffered from some bug that caused it to deadlock mysql raping server. Thats why some autohosts/relay hosts lagged
Things are fixed now, but the site is suffering from some ddos like attacks sometimes
Added. While we were here discussing colors and themes, we missed a major point! ALL PERMALINKS HAVE DIED!
Exemple: http://jobjol.nl/1683 -> page not found!
Go ahead! Nice idea.Start a favicon + logo competition ftw :D
The site also need new buttons (logo's) for 1v1 maps, FFA maps, 2v2 maps, team maps, metal maps, eco maps and hilly, flat and mountainious maps

Re: SpringFiles 3.0 stay or go?
As I already mentioned, the site looks good. White elements appeared better than I expected.
It's a bit slow I must admit, but dunno if thats a big problem.
Big problem imo is, that some of the latest uploads are missing? Like FolsomDamDeluxeV4. Version 3 shouldnt be there anymore - at least it wasnt in old site.
Old statistics has also gone, which is a bit fail imo.

Re: SpringFiles 3.0 stay or go?
pressing enter in the search box does not submit the search form
Re: SpringFiles 3.0 stay or go?
I've migrated the files with great care.
But it could happen that 1 or 2 files didnt made it to the new site.
The stats are not imported (yet) they do still exist in the old DB and they will be uploaded to the new site. It just takes some time to do so.
Enters in the search box dont work because of ajax auto-suggestions.
A double enter will work.

The mirror system does not seem to work?
Re: SpringFiles 3.0 stay or go?
What seems not to work exactly?very_bad_soldier wrote:The mirror system does not seem to work?
Do you mean the distribution of new uploads? The mirror distribution of files is temporally disabled since the server can't handle long cron runs atm. It gives 500 server errors. That needs to be fixed first.

I see. Yes, thats what I meant.
Re: SpringFiles 3.0 stay or go?
I dont know if this issue was mentioned, but all my newly uploaded files got converted to lower case filenames. Great work, I really like the new site.

Have you considered using something like http://www.mirrorbrain.org/ ?[...the mirror system...]
