Unit Ideas!

Hey, just finished coming up with a sketch and plans for the TLL side's uber unit for The Lost Legacy mod. It's kind of a weird idea, but here it is:
It would be a flying vehicle. It looks kind of like a circular disk thing with a big fan in the middle like a Helios. It's more like an oval. But anyway, it will have four plasma battery cannons on each "corner" of the gunship. It would have two mini-rocket luanchers and two regular machine guns on the front about where the wings would be if it had any. It would have six v-pulse launchers in the back. And.... it wil have a huge lightning gun on the bottom of the gunship. This adds up to a total of 15 weapons.
Oh, and I changed my plans around a little for the arms uber unit. Instead of having a rotatable huge laser on the top, it will have two non-rotatable heavy laser cannons mounted on the front sides. And the fangs of the spider mech shoot out electricity. This will still keep the total at 15 weapons if you count the two laser cannons as one weapon and the two fangs as one. Just place the firing points at different spots.

This line is particularly hilarious.Chrispin wrote: Oh, and I do realize that people, even after these units are made, will want to try and make an even BIGGER unit. But what I say is that this is going to be as big as it's going to get. No questions asked. I'm saying that the units could be so big and annoying that nobody would even bother making a unit better than that, except the idiots who want to make a super cheap unit to kill the enemy no matter what.
Well... can anybody just say something pertinent to my ideas? If it could be done, then I would be making all my ideas. But lucky me, I only have windows 98.
So most of the tools don't work. Anyway, I am posting these ideas to maybe see if someone else would make these units. They are pretty good ideas, I think. Well.. my sketches are nice looking and I think they may fit well in the game if it was possible to put them in there.

Eh, so most of my other ideas didn't seem so good. But I also have some smaller unit ideas that may sound a little more reasonable. I'm just going to post about one idea every week to give time to comment about it. But anyway, here is another idea...
It would be called the Core S.C.R.A.P. Shrapnel Cannon Ripping Armor Pieces (or something like that). That pretty much describes it. It would be a very large cannon mounted on a sort of heavy vehicle chasis. And of coarse, when it shoots, a bunch of smoke and pieces and stuff fly in the general direction its aiming at. It would be very innacurate but deadly up close. The pieces could maybe disappear after a certain distance from launch. I'm not too sure about how much it should cost but, I think it should cost about as much as a Goliath.
If you still don't like my ideas, then wait untill next week for a possible better one. And I asure you, I'm not making this up as I go. I have been thinking of these ideas for a while.

If you can create a super unit into a mod like XTA, and balance it so that it doesn't wreck the game once someone gets it, and if it looks cool, then post it here and I'll play test and tell you what I think. But superunits in general tend to be impossible to balance, because you can double the cost and sure, it's twice as hard to get, but if it wins the game, well, then its still unbalanced, unless its absolutely rediculously priced and in that case why bother at all? Anyway, whatever, if you can make it, do, otherwise, get some better ideas.
Yea.. I want to know how many people in here can make units so I can test SOMETHING out.
There are many tactics and options if being attacked by super units though. You could:
1. Make a HUGE swarm of medium strength units to overtake the one unit
2. Lay a bunch of land mines in the way of the unit (if it's slow enough)
3.Make a bunch of dragons teeth in its way to slow it down alot so your defences can take care of it (if the defences are long range)
4. Of coarse, make another super unit to match up with the enemy
5. And so many other ways that I don't feel like typing
But you get the idea. You have way more than just one option when fighting a super unit.

Alright... I think I will try and squeeze in another idea. Now this one might seem kind of stupid, but it would be nice to play around with. Basically what it does is shout out a magnetic shockwave shooting all the weak units into the air. Some medium units would fly too. And once they all hit the ground, they suffer some falling damage. It would be nice against pewee and A.K. rushes. But I think this would be a pretty funny unit to see in action. Seeing the little peewees just flying everywhere. But please just give some kind of feedback about this.

That might make for a rather nifty defencive structure, a turret that shoves units away rather than fires a weapon in the conventional sense, allowing other defences a longer time to attack the unit before the defences come into the units weapon range, or simply as a deterrent to walking down a canyon by building loadsa of them, or to push them into purpose built minefields etc....
But look. The unit would actually throw the enemy off the ground and DO some damage once it hits the ground. If this unit would come out too cheap then it would just be fun to play around with.
And uh, I like using armies a little more than super units. It is easier to kill the enemy that way. Lots of units means lots of confusion. More things seem to be more powerful than just one thing. You could attack from all sides of the base at once. Why wouldn't I like to rush? And I'm not saying that the unit I was talking about had to be as big as a Krogoth. In fact, I was picturing it to be quite a small unit. Not real small, just medium sized. And I don't mind rushes, but sometimes they really get annoying. It seems the most common come by air. So, I build air defence. But sometimes it just so happens that they built tons of sumos. I'm really not even making a point here but that is why I usually lose. Element of suprise.
