Problem with playing online

Post by Chrispin »

Ok, here's the deal. Me and my dad both love playing TA Spring. The thing is, the only way I can play it against him is if I'm playing from my own computer and with it's own router all the way to his house with his own router and everything. But, I don't have a good enough video card on my computer to play TA Spring. So when I visit my dad's house I have to use one of his computers to play TA Spring. But I cant play against my dad because of sharing a router. Here is what happens. My dad hosts, I get in his lobby, we start the game, and there it goes. We suddenly lose connection with leaves us with the Connecting to server count down. My dad's computer I know can host and play with other players because I've tested it out. I was wanting to know what the problem was with this.

And by the way, just because I mentioned my dad in this story doesn't mean that I'm a little kid saying this. So please do not comment about that.

Sounds cool to have a dad playing TA Spring ;)
If you just want to do a 1v1, you can simply do the normal LAN approach:
run the TASServer locally and connect to it using the lobby clients.

ok little kid who lives with his daddy. The problem is a problem with spring, and is known. Betalord is trying to figure out a fix but has no real way of testing short of just trying things and putting them in the next release. Hopefully he gets it sooner or later, so keep trying every time there's a new spring or client release and report back. Spring just currently doesn't handle IPs very effectively and isn't able to handle muliple instances of the same IP in a single game yet.

Eh, I think I will try to do LAN. But in the meantime, I'm hoping they will fix this problem. It's alot easier to just log on to the main lobby and just host a private game. Thanks for the info.

Folcan plays Spring online with his brother, the only thing is that they can't host the game that they're playing in. You might want to ask him how to get going.
btw, you and your father both playing Spring, that's ace :-) .

Well, actually my dad has been playing OTA before I had. So he is the one who got me into playing. I liked the game so much that I wanted a sequal. So I was looking around and found SupCom and I said well that's pretty good, but it's coming out in 2006. I couldnt wait untill 2006! :x So I kept searching and thought about how they brought back the origional Scorched Earth by making a 3D Scorched Earth. So in my search bar, I typed in 3D Total Annihilation. And there it was.... TA Spring. I had a big jawdrop and told my dad about it and now he wants to play TA Spring against me, but unfortunatly, we can't.
