Depends on the capture area around them. I'm not sure what you mean with naked targets though.

Also in Section 8 we had the control point dance, to hack a CP there's a fairly large computer that you have to be close to. Thanks to the sensors you could see enemies even through obstacles so when you are hacking/defusing the CP you can keep the computer between you and the enemy.

the idea I wanted to go with was the flag would be a sort of spawner.

maphas flags.flags can slowly build units/turrets in their range.
Turret overall number is limited based on the amount of captured flags;the more you capture the less is the max number of turrets you can make.
This means youll have some flags that are guarded by defences and some empty.
you can also allow a teleport building allowing units to teleport to a flag from another flag etc.

You are too preoccupied with "flags".

How is a flag different from a zone?

Touch flag, instantly gain ownership of factory, including any WIP units. Factory can build mobile units or defenses.

It's been done. It was fun.

do not want.

If I did it I would use zones which require conquering. I don't like the idea of a player just running out and touching a bunch of flags to win. Stupid imo and it is a fall back to LOL I QUE A BUNCH OF POINTS UP that comprises your beloved mex spots.

That is the rub, you guys are not selling the idea to me just to yourselves and who here is going to implement it. I don't think it'll be yan. furthermore the fact that yan wants to take art assets out of the core project tells me that he wants me to create a gundamrts2 not a gundam rts rule subset or game mode. I do not like the idea of just going and hitting a few points playing connect the dots. Unless I see some better argument consider this idea shot down.

You (non smoth) guys could always make a mod for GRTS.

As expected this turned into another Smoth confrontation thread.
I didnt want to take art assest nor did it ever cross my mind to do anything related to Gundam.
It just seemed weird that first you imply you encourage moding and than you tell me i cant use your models..
Do you really think I'll create new gundam models with textures(when your high quality ones already exist) just to make a small minimod for your project?
Or if i do use your it means im trying to steal the project from you?
It was a suggestion.
If you do not think it will be a fun concept dont make it, end of story and have a nice day.

Take it how you want yan but you do not need acess to the models to mod grts. Give me a real reason why you need acess to them beyond just cause.

It is not connfrontational for me to reject a proposal which may require weeks of work for me on top of what I already have to do.

You are asking me to commit to something I don't like don't get mad when I reject the prposal. Do not further irritate me by trying to brow beat me into implimenting what you want by vilifying me

i like the idea, and brainstorming is fine. But honestly, do it if you like it, dont harass smoth to do it for you.

maybe bobs mod http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=24280 is a better base mod if bob is okay with it.

Gota, you miss the fine point about mutator:
Smoth does not want you to put his model files into your mod, but he's okay with you your mod linking to the models in his mod.

So you don't have to remodel, you can use Smoth's Gundam's models. However, don't copy the models, but use depend = { "GUNDAM1.26.sd7" }, in your modinfo.lua.

Yeah, you can even write new scripts and unit defs for them, you can just use them as a reference for the effects, 3d, and texture contents.
