Spring randomly minimizes its self while in-game

Post by Rannikus »

This happens very often and makes it impossible to play in fullscreen, as it will crash often when I click on an icon to create a unit. When I view this in the task manager, it changes icons about 2-3 times a second, It seems it is minimizing and maximizing shortly after that. I've tried multiple times to reinstall spring, and even my mods (It does this for all mods I've tried) But nothing works. :(

If you have windows7, make sure you dont have firefox running background. It causes many conflicts with many programs.

I h8 windows7.

Win7 is awesome, best OS MS has ever put out.

That said, yes, firefox an thunderbird, just close them and it'll stop doing that crap. It isn't just spring that suffers from this, it's other games as well (for example: hiverise), always caused by firefox.

Going off-topic but the reason I h8 windows 7 is the 'new' explorer. Many useful functions from xp has been dissapeared plus win7 is ram-heavy... :(

Wut? Win7 explorer can do everything XP explorer could and assloads more. Might wanna do some reading of various tech blogs to find out all the enhancements. When using XP explorer I still want to shoot myself. That thing sucked a big one. It's like trying to build a car with stone age tools.

e.g. how can I make it show the summarized file size of all selected files when I have more than 15 selected like in XP (without the need of extra clicks)?

http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

Dunno if that fixes it but it's open source so get working! :P

Anyway, I don't think I've ever found myself annoyed that I can't see the file size for when more than 15 files are selected. If I'm working with more than 15 files, chances are I'll be doing much more computer intensive activities to give a damn about right clicking 'properties'.

The point was that Win7's explorer has drawbacks (you can ofc code a better explorer by yourself if you have lots of spare time). Thanks for proving the point. :regret:

Every OS has drawbacks. The point you used to show a drawback in Windows 7 is minuscule compared to other problems with W7 and problems with other Operating Systems.

You are escalating the point now. I never said anything about Win vs. Linux. I actually use Win7 and I like it (more than other OSs) but I am missing some features in the explorer I was used to on XP. Obviously I am not alone.

I was referring to your point:

Also, I never said anything about Win vs Linux either...

When W7 in trial mode then any notification popup window concerning trial period will force you to desktop. But this happens not very often.

Anyway i think author is enjoying watching his thread converting into flame wars.

What's your technical specs, dude?
