Lol Basic, gotta love your logic, by applying it from my perspective I concluded that anyone who disagrees with me and doesn't see that CA is doing it best is BA fanboy.
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
How on earth did you conclude that?im guessing by quickly reading the first line of every post?Licho wrote:Lol Basic, gotta love your logic, by applying it from my perspective I concluded that anyone who disagrees with me and doesn't see that CA is doing it best is BA fanboy.
In that case why bother posting back?
The fact that one needs to stick the thing he likes in every hole like its the end all be all is what makes one a fanboy.
Imagine if every time Kernal Panic was mentioned id go "well I hate this and this about KP and that is flawed and it should be like in the game i like".
Or id just go a tricker way of pointing out something in KP saying its wrong when everyone knows its the opposite in the game i like.
what if I was to say to cremuss on this thread,"hey dont make it like CA cause CA has this and this shitty concept just look at how nice and pretty it is in my favorite mod" make it like that cause its obviously superior.
I wonder what response id get..
especially if i did it multiple times.
I guess its nice though when the forum is jam packed with people who either dont like BA or are just bored of it after enjoying it for years and with people who are just straight out bitter cause it swollowes the players but "obviously" without merit.

Imo It's time to stop this nonsense argument over CA and its awesomeness.
This thread has drifted into game designers preference propaganda. You must keep in mind that only small fraction of the community is ranting here while most of the community is out there playing *A mods... You just need to take some distance from your preferences. As Cremuss already said, he is not doing BA fork, he is not reaching for CA goals, he is doing his own unique game based on TA concept.
And besides, as Gota said, theres nothing wrong with TA concept.
Everything beyond that are just opinions.
Anyway, The game seems promising cremuss, keep up the good work. I love the artistic style.

Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
Is the UI real or shooped?
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
The roadmap for now :
- Recruit people
- make SVN, bugtracker, wiki... all tools needed for dev. I used tuxfamily's services last year but the bandwidth is terrible...
- make a nice clean game base package without non-needed file
- start scripting units, polish and/or complete started ones, find FX for weapons or make new one if you can't find nice one, find sounds, make proper lua unitdef, make corpses (yeah corpses -_- )
- implement the ui
- start coding superpower gadget
- new nano laser FX
- new "build on progress" FX
- ...

Shoop dee woop!
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
There is no need to avoid our design goals or implementations Cremuss, this just makes for the the prospect of working together more closely appealing. Especially if you cant find your own dedicated lua coders (which we have in abundance, but we cant find our own dedicated artists). Really its a shame you didnt decide to work on CA directly. But your game looks excellent and we'll be happy to help, as always.
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
Yeah, why don't you merge your project, Cremuss working on the models, CA team working on the coding?
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
because the ca team would stifle his creativity.
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
I don't see how, they're amongst the most creative people around here.
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
because they have what they want and he has what he wants. Too many cooks not enough pots.
To merge the projects you would need to compromise on artistic vision. I don't think the ca ta will 100% want what he wants and he isn't going to 100% want what they want.
Personally the fact that 1faction and CA both push the gesture menu has cause me to completely lose interest in both projects. Cremuss doesn't want gesture if you look at his ui. That is just one of probably many differences in the design of the projects.
I don't want to see cremuss project get absorbed into ca/1faction because he will be a minority voice there and pretty much just get relegated to artist rather than lead creative force.

Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
Yes exactly. I understand you want cremuss to your project saktoth. The problem however is that you dont have actually any artistic direction. Cremuss, As I understand him, Is an artist, who cant create his own style. Ca is currently a mish mash of different artistic endeavours.smoth wrote: To merge the projects you would need to compromise on artistic vision. I'd really not like to see yet another addition into it. You would need to define your artistic frameworks before continuing. The gui, as smoth mentioned, is one example of it.
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
take your tops off and kiss
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
Tbh CA does not really impose limits on art or "features". Only rule it has is that units from same factory should look similar (similar style).
We also don't limit people to any roles. Like anyone can make balance change, add unit, or change art. Each does what he likes to do..
And no Smoth, we don't push gestures, default menu is going to be tabbed.

Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
You both fail to get the point.
CA: established project with goals and guidelines. Has a specific economic model(TA+communism). Preexisting unit concepts, gameplay.
Cremuss project: new project with his own ideas
Licho, that would be just as bad as going, hey smoth why don't we pull gundam into ca. Is ca going to become gundam? No, is gundam going to become partly ca,yes. A project cannot be absorbed into another project and retain it's identity. It becomes a diminished version of it's self.
It doesn't matter if I hated what cremuss is doing, I want to see him continue to develop it in HIS direction. Joining ca means he will shift his work to YOUR direction. I object to that.

Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
I meant CA team as the collective of people, not the mod.
They were looking for new mod to use for their new PlanetWar thing and rebuild everything without TA, but it seem they had more idea about the metagame than the game itself. I didn't mean Cremuss should make new model for CA, but that CA people should exchange Lua coder time with the right to use Cremuss mod for their PW3.

Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
Cremuss should just make it how he wants it to be. If other don't like it how it turns out, they could alway modify it later.
Re: Game project. Code name : Evolvere
Im only offering Cremuss the opportunity to benefit from the work of the CA team, as we have benefited from his work. I suggest this because so many of our goals and ideas (including a TA-style econ) intersect, and he will need lua to do this. We are both open source projects so can both borrow freely from eachother, if we coordinate, we can ensure that as much of our lua is usable by him as possible. Its the least we can do, with all the art content he has made us.
CA's art style is kept open to lend maximum freedom to the creativity of the artists. Coders should not be dictating the art style to the artists. Until we get an in-house artist of sufficient ability to set design standards, we will remain as open as possible to contributors, which is better than using OTA content.
