SpringFiles blacklisted as malware site

Post by SpliFF »

First Google told me not to go there:
http://www.google.com.au/interstitial?u ... files.com/
http://safebrowsing.clients.google.com/ ... s.com/1683

Then Firefox:
Reported Attack Page!

This web page at springfiles.com has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

Attack pages try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system.

Some attack pages intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners.
They both get data from this site:

On a side-note, I wish they'd stop calling it 'badware', that sounds fucking ridiculous.

Evil minions aren't evilbad-doers,
You don't sue for malbadpractice,
Riots aren't filled with dis badfunctional malbadcontents,
Idiots aren't misbadinformed.

It's MALware you fuckers, everyone else knows that. :x

Firefox has detected badware on this site

The site you have tried to visit has been a very naughty boy. It has been spanked and sent to bed without its supper.

Your browser can't play with this site this week because the site has been grounded. If it behaves itself it can come to your party on Saturday.

We know this site has been hanging around with all the bad sites down in the poor racks after curfew. If we catch you going there your browsing privileges will be suspended for a week. If you keep this up we'll also delete your facebook and twitter accounts.

You've been warned, now finish your homework.

Your loving parents,
Mozilla & Google

Get Avast free edition at: www.avast.com << Runtime scan will sort you out in notime, and it's excellent Antivirus with low overhead.
Go get spybot search and destroy at: www.safer-networking.org << run immunization and a scan.

Start using firefox or google chrome with the adblock extention.

+1 to spybot S&D...

the "addblock" I prefer is NoScript (http://noscript.net/ or https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... fox&id=722 )

I also like to keep firebug and grease-monkey around in case I need to tweak how web-sites work or block some but not all scripts on the page.

Avast and AVG are too heavy and have agendas in that they want you to buy pricier versions. They have also been shown to miss rather common things, and install other 'addons' like AVG toolbar.

Benchmarks and tests show Microsoft Security Essentials to be far lighter weight.

However, if you purely rely on antivirus then in my opinion you are actually less secure than if you had no antivirus. That false sense of security lets you do reckless things that lets the real dangerous stuff ( the stuff antivirus doesn't protect you from ) get on your machine a lot faster.

Best way to do things:
Google Chrome + uptodate microsoft security essentials + common sense + running as a standard not admin level account + latest version of windows

MS security essentials is useless. Avast does not try to install additional stuff. AVG does (which is why i stopped using it 10 - 15 years ago).

Avast has very low overhead and one of the best av scanners in the business with the lowest number of false positives.

Common Sense is by far the best antimalware/antivirus. The only problem is, common sense isn't common.
