61 hours!

Post by Buggi »

I worked 61 hours last week! OY!!!

I think my Blood Caffeine Content was off the charts. :?

Anyway, I just wanted you all to know I haven't neglected you, I'm just uber busy. @.@;;;

There will come a day soon when I'll get down and basically re-learn what needs to be done to complete the new map converter.

Yah, err, perhaps this coulda gone in offtopic. I know your the incarnation of Spring development and all, but you should leave a good example for the underlings.

Nice santa hat... very festive :)

The offer to lend a hand is very appreciated! I just need to know what your skillset is, after that I can better decide where the best fit is.

So... the phrase we really need is "n00b"? :D

GIMP is imaging software right?

And the skill is to "program".

What language? And I WILL smite you if you say VB... I swear.

VB is not, nor ever will be, a languaged used in REAL LIFE. I've been working as a developer for some time now and never ONCE in any instance, case, or mentioned project was VB ever considered as part of the solution. And I deal quite a bit with the company that invented VB, so interpret that as you will.
:shock:

I know VB is a n00b language when building large projects, but for simple things VB does have its uses. All my projects are done in VB, and I havnt had an issue with them yet. However, I would never consider doing something of this scale in VB. But if you do find a use for VB at all, I can help.

VB

That depends actually, VB.NET is not a toy language - it's just an aliasing of C#. Basically, if you can code VB.NET, you can code C#, because they're the same language with different text. And if you can code C#, you can code Java.

I used VB for a very long time. It's easy in use, and great for small programs. But indeed, it got it's limitations on larger projects. If you wan't more, but the same usability, consider Delphi.

VB is used primarily with excel/access to create quick applications that utilize existing file-based databases (VBA). While the original VB was a first attempt at RAD development, it was meant to be completely abandoned with no more support once .NET came out. VB.NET is an appropriate language to program something like this in. I prefer C# because of the syntax, but know that there is NO difference between the two other than syntax. In fact, it is possible to convert source code from one language to the other, and simple applications that do that currently exist.
