homeworld is way more praiseworthy than any of it's sequals,it's on a different level,a "trailblazer".
Reminds me of this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkObnNQCMtM
was used in homeworld 1..

thief 1, 2, 3 are really missing here.
also monkeys island 1-3 (haven't played the fourth)
the settlers 2 or 3.
gothic is also epic if you can look over bugs ^^
and the call of duty series. except for world at war, they're all great shooters.

Full Spectrum Warrior is fairly enjoyable. (and available [legally] as a free download)
Soldiers Of Anarchy (RTT, set in post apocalyptic Russia [interestingly there's US military equipment everywhere])
Independence War II: Edge Of Chaos (Space Combat Sim)
Bandits: Phoenix Rising (kinda Like Interstate 76, but with a Mad Max setting)
GTA2 (available [legally] as a free download)
Rune
Iron Storm (1st/3rd person shooter [1st world war is still raging in the 1960's])
Evolva (interesting 3rdPS where you can harvest DNA from dead animals to mutate your characters and gain abilities)
