cool game. by the end I went tech (because you need a tech) with flamer, tesla, and the +20% armor boost.
used melee a LOT (it can take out three or so of the basic aliens in a clump without you taking any damage or using ammo)

used flame strategically to keep myself from being infected, used tesla on all of the weird stuff. hardly ever needed healing.

and I was often the last person standing with most kills, so it was pretty effective.

needs more campaigns -_-

Tbh first timers with no unlocks should not be able to beat any missions on insane so easilly.
And we sucked with teamplay, with proper team it would be trivial.

I want to try it with friends on mumble one day.

hardest level for my group was the one where you had to clear out all the swarm eggs + biomass.

everyone but me kept dying by the end, and I couldn't hold the final swarm with just a turret

we finally made it when one other person survived, then the rest of the levels were easy enough

Judging how hard the game is - on any difficulty level - based on the first mission is downright idiotic.

True, but I'm not certain that Licho did that.

I finished the game on hard and tried couple of missions on insane. It's not that I'm awesome, we played on hard with total newbie and insane attempts also had total newbies.. its too easy.

there's armor with infestation resistance, I find it easier to just shoot the parasites (you can see them when it's light, and when it's not you use the flamethrower as a flashlight + shield)

Holy shit is this a sarcasm tag?

It is, it is!

edit: oh, no it's strikethrough. Hmm... close enough though...

edit 2: So anyway, my originally planned post was about how there's exactly one black guy in this game, he's descibed as being hopelessly in debt, and he's the only one with a melee damage bonus. I'm not saying anything... I'm just saying.

According to Steam stats, AS has the most concurrent players for any Steam game ever!

edit 3: Scratch tha... ah, strike-out that. I'm just confused. Still, 60,000 at one time pretty good.

On insane, every room in is a boss. Hoo-leee shit. And especially if you're playing with anons, since they're douchebags retarded douchebags that like to go commander+mines+grenade launcher, then TK the entire team (themselves included) the first time anything happens nothing happens anything happens, or doesn't.

Hmm haven't played that much with randoms but the only thing i found frustrating about the experience is that they tend to get into your line of fire and just run around in circles shooting in all directions instead of trying to keep lanes of fire separated.

For me what breaks the pace of the game is if you die and must wait for the entire team to either die or finish the level(plus the restarting of the mission repacking stuff etc.
Would be cool if upon death you'd just restart in the beginning of the level ,choose your gear again and try to catch up while new swarms of aliens attack you.
This would mean action all the time instead of aimlessly idling.

Well, that thing about dying and then waiting isn't really that big a deal in my experience. If the level is hard enough or the teamwork incompetent enough that someone dies, everyone else will die within about 30 seconds.

Me, Bruce, Flozi (IIRC), and... Oh yeah, Forboding "Canada is a time zone" Angel ( ) played through the campaign on hard yesterday morning. Bruce's yesterday night, that is. Anyway, maybe just since we knew each other we worked together really well, covering each other's ass and lining up our fire really well. Whole team only died a couple of times I think, it was really a slick experience.

Ahh, bring back memories of playing with similar groups trying out new AA builds. Except for Flozi, he's a goddamn competitor.

And then I fell through the ground and got eaten by parasites that I have to assume were planted there by Valve to catch people with noclip.

Then last night I played a game with Bruce and a couple anons on Insane for the first time and everything actually went pretty good until Bruce got sick of this one douchebag with a grenade launcher that kept on TKing people in his enthusiasm for killing the horde... or so he said. I think I might've also been doing a shitty job as a medic...

Really fun though in any case, I think "hard" should be the difficulty of choice unless you've got massive balls or you're playing with friends. Really hoping for more/longer maps soon, and it's kinda weak how the devs had all that L4D2 experience but didn't include much of anything in terms of randomization.
