Hello people,
There's a "Subversion & Git Repositories" forum, it was created to remove "noise" generated by non-contributing members from vital development discussions.
At the moment it's more or less collecting dust, so my question is what to do with it, how to do it and who is going to do it.
A problem that was never really solved is who gets to post there? The strict definition "only people that commit code" is to exclusive in my opinion. Or to inclusive, as anybody can branch code in git.
The forum never saw that much use and only a few people made requests for access, allowing for a case by case evaluation.
Another problem is that I'm not actively involved with Spring, a personal choice. Would love to be more active again but more realistically.. my time and energy is committed to my healthcare management job - for the coming two years anyway.
So, the task of managing the Subversion & Git Repositories forum is not really on my todo list.
Also, we have the new "developer meetings" and the minutes that get posted in this forum. This has a overlap with the "Subversion & Git Repositories" forum function.
So the question is: Do we have a use for that forum? If so, were are we going to use it for? And who is going to make sure it gets used for it? And if not, are we going to archive/remove it?

Re: The "Subversion & Git Repositories" forum
Two issues here:
- These days threads which are usually most relevant in that forum are never posted there, and more often than not, started by people who can't post there anyway, or split from irrelevant threads on a different topic.
- The forum itself is arguably better placed as a sub-forum of the development forum.

Id actually think that a Meta forum for discussions like this, and some of the other threads would be a far better idea
Re: The "Subversion & Git Repositories" forum
In the meeting of today we decided that we'll reuse it as `Dedicated Developer Discussion' and start clean with up to date list of everyone who can push to github.com/spring repositories. Visibility will remain as it is now. Idea is to use it for certain things that would otherwise be discussed in the meeting.
