Cannot host without forwarding ports

Post by Decimator »

My server is behind a double-NAT. I cannot currently host without forwarding port 8452 through both routers.

They told me to post it in help and bugs, so I did. The NAT traversal stuff works for some people, but not everyone. I happen to be one of the people it doesn't work for.

Yes, I have to have ports forwarded too. And I still have the problem of my roomates not being able to connect to a game I hosted on the main server. Timeout still. He even has his UDP port to 10000. Still can't connect to him or myself even after forwarding the ports :/

I have a similar problem, but I think mine is due to the fact that the people in charge of security here take extreme measures with port blocking. Basically, I'm in a college full of farmers and jocks (I question how I missed this fact before I came here every day), and therefore they're all morons when it comes to avoiding crap on the Internet, so the tech team here has to set up heavy security to prevent constant breakout of massive spyware and virus epidemics. This prevents me from pretty much playing any online game (and in the case of Steam, even UPDATING my games is out of the question). You're not alone in your problems.

Me the same, still need my ports forwarded, not that it's a huge hassle.
