Gulf of Doom someone?

Post by Rayden »

I know TASpring isn't done for Epic Style maps but a 32x32 version would be enough. I always enjoyed that map cause it has a large land part and but also much ocean with large isles.

It could be done similar like Green Haven but maybe a bit fewer mountains.

Unfortunally i couldn't find a screenshot of the map :(

OMG LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111one

Gulf of Doom FUCKING ROCKED!!!

I had so many lan parties that turned into 12 hour nuke fests because of that map!

Its so fucking huge its impossible to get ur troops to the enemy base before they reach level2 (or 3 if they know what they are doing). I had on lan with five of us in the same room and my roommate at the time essentially went completely turtle defense on the rest of us and built a base that was completely a nuclear missile silo! (it sucked because the got so bored with his own base design that he built five walls of defense around it, it was truly inpenetrable. It started as an FFA, but the rest of us just ganged up on him but our Anti-Nuke base defenses were saturated by 50 missiles being launched at a time every five minutes.

The mod was TAUCP btw.

But the point comes down to the fact that we REALLLY need to wait for spring to support a 67 x 67 map, otherwise it wouldn't be worth it :P

Oh and that elitist attitude of your's is REALLY starting to put me off. 16 X 16 is fine if all you want to play is greenhaven "1 on 1" but sometimes its just more fun to fuck around and a get a few good laughs, and thats why Gulf of Doom would fucking rock on Spring. (allied matches on the OTA version were hard because, unless ur ally was sitting next to you in the same room it was impossible to coordinate strikes properly). That and the ability to share radar and LOS info in OTA didn't always work for me.

And now with the improvements in the engine that were made recently i really think it could be done, when the new format comes to being.

Though they aren't very fun over the net(lag!/dropouts), maps like these are very fun over lan, and I'd be happy to make a huge map once larger sizes are supported. This would be truly awesome if Spring had a GC-esque feature to jump into a game that has already started.

But then there should be a limitation that a player that already got defeated in game can't join again the same game.

largest bump ever for largest map request ever. I think the largest map i could make and play is 46x46. I run out of ram after that.

dinosaur .. exactly thats the map i mean, but i guess even a conversion on 40x40 would be nice.

I just like the structure of this map as it offers good possibilities for ship, air and ground warfare. And you really have some distance there, so a vulcan or bertha doesnt cover a too large part of the map.

Nicely done with good metal positioning i think it should be even playable as 4v4v4 or something similar :)

I think i remember this one- there was this oilspill below, that filled the whole ocean surface with slick black oil, and any seabattle could ignite it any moment. That map rocked, so sorry they do not make maps this way today.
