most maps with just in gray, Help

i have search the forum but i really don't know how to search for this, so i didn't find the answer (obviously).
i have spring lobby under ubuntu 9.04, and downloaded a bunch of mod and maps but most of the maps are just gray with height and the others don't look good at all, i try with BA 7.12, EE 0.46 ... and maps like LLTA complex. the maps appear fine in the lobby but when i start the game they appear just gray. the trees are gray too, but the grass and units are ok. what can i do?
