ARM OTA remake

Post by Gota »

I'v decided To try and help the OTA Remodeling effort.
Since core has been worked on by Cremuss and MR.D and I fear I will not be able to match their style in precision, making mine and theirs differ, thus i have decided to start remaking ARM,hopefully being able to produce quality work that preserves the OTA feel so that mods would want to use it.

I made rough sketches of a new ARM PW...These are guidelines so that when i get to the modeling I'll know roughly what i want.
I'm not sure yet if this is a final concept.

These are several parts that together form a whole unit.
Torso

arm

gun top down

leg

Some of the proportions are a bit off,I know(shoulder can be bulkier and bigger).
I didnt think it was important enough to redraw.

lots of good things here... i really like that you're doing concept sketches first, i should probably do that more often.

the blocky / armoured look appeals to my eyes, i like the style.

i'm not sure how i feel about the rivets due to the scale although i suppose that on ships etc they are massive...

anyhow, i think combined with the example texture you were considering the other day (on the tank, the nice dusty desert one) this could make for a very attractive model.

if i had any gripes about the design, it would be that perhaps there's a bit too much detail on the leg at least in terms of geometry; i would do those greebles as part of the texture to save polies

other than that, go go go  it'll be cool to see this as a finished unit now that i've seen the basic ideas (arent i punny? nyuck nyuck)

Yeah..the leg is problematic since the original had a very simple design without any joints and with clipping....
I tried to take some form the original but Had to add detail so it'll look at least somewhat logical.

Yayy concept art!

I like it, although you might want to draw all the pieces together before you model it, because I'm not sure how well that arm would fit with the rest of the model, you should probably remove the vertical section and just have the base of it attach to the torso.

Nice drawings though.

Wombat cool but i meant for the gun part to be thicker(look in top down view of gun...also the shoulder needs to be bigger and the gun part needs to be situated lower prolonging the arm itself a bit.

The gun needs ot be able to rise and fall like in the original peewee and i made a track in the painting to show how it happens.

I wrote in my Original post that some of the ratios of size are a bit off what i meant especially is the gun par and shoulder part.shoulder needs ot be bigger and the arm needs to drop a bit lower.

well, thats exactly what i saw on the 'arm' pic, its exactly same with all propotions :D cant read much from top view. if u send me more concepts like the arm one (no strange angles like leg picture got) i can make full model in few mins, send u obj, and u can change whatever u want :P
