That's a thought, bob. The original drawing for the Overmind commander was of a centaur- I rejected it because of polycount concerns. Maybe I'll revisit that.

For that hulk, I'd go less centauroid and more like the OTA Sumo an Armored Core Quad Legs setup.

This, other than the arm designs, is actually really close to the original drawing (IIRC, it's been over two years):

That looks much more functional... but I'd think a different leg-structure would help faction differentiation, since you already have mammalian quadruped legs on Resistance units. That said, I can't imagine you rejected that over polycounts - doesn't look like it could have anything like the amount it would take to cause performance concerns... although texturemapping it wouldn't be fun.

Im not a fan of the unit at all, I like the long turrets but that's about it, the rest of it just looks a bit meh. I'd come up with a new concept

2 player tank game wip using sdl+opengl, didn't make the art
hit about 1700 lines of code tonight

front leg walks like a bipedal and the rear legs behave like spider legs

looks slow..

The rest of it is a pretty nice mech, I just dislike strongly the trileg config.

Its a balanced setup, but I can't imagine that mech moving faster than a slow crawl with 3 legs.

Ahhh the Ares Mech of the now Defunk MechWarrior. Yea, it was never the fastest mech(didn't need to be, its really big and heavily armored), although part of it I believe was manuvarability as the center could rotate about its axis.
