Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
Insights by Chris Taylor loosely based on his upcoming fantasy game (including some TA references at some points btw)...

Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
Well he always was this sort of "funny guy" with a special sense of humor. He even shows this in most interviews about his games...
Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
That's just him being a dork, if you really want to lose respect, try playing SupCom2.SwiftSpear wrote:Wow, I have lost more respect for Chris Taylor than I thought possible...
Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
What the hell is this new game about though? Other than cutting wood, chickens, and feeding horses?

Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
Maybe TA:Kingdoms done right. This time with Chris as designer. Let's just hope he won't turn it into a fantasy version of SupCom 2. What I find interesting is that they also struggle to do a nice melee combat and I'm curious how their result with those intersecting armies will look like in the end...
Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
So if SupCom was supposed to be the successor to TA, is this game supposed to be a successor to TA:K?
And if SupCom was way worse than TA, how horrible is this game going to be? o_o

Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
I have no idea if there's any intention to grab some gameplay elements from TA:K or if it's just a fantasy RTS built from scratch. I guess we'll see about that once there's anything serious to show...
Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
I thought the videos were fun.
Hope the game will be good.

It's just funny how it's going in a pattern. TA, TA:K, SupCom, and now this. We've come full circle.Master-Athmos wrote:I have no idea if there's any intention to grab some gameplay elements from TA:K or if it's just a fantasy RTS built from scratch. You forgot his RPGs: DungeonSiege, DungeonSiege┬▓much, SciFi-Siege
Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
There's also other versions of ta like boneyards
I thought this new game looked pretty decent

Boneyard is not a special version of TA. Boneyard was to Cavedog what BattleNet is to Blizzard.Sausage wrote:There's also other versions of ta like boneyards
Re: Kings & Castles (by Chris Taylor)
Except the fact that SupCom was never really meant to improve/build upon TA. It's completely different game, with different gameplay priorities and design. Even SupCom2 is like a completely different game compared to SupCom.Das Bruce wrote:That's just him being a dork, if you really want to lose respect, try playing SupCom2.SwiftSpear wrote:Wow, I have lost more respect for Chris Taylor than I thought possible...

Supcom 2 is a fun game, but its not what it was meant to be, I blame Square Enix for this.
Now Ive finished the supcom 2 campaign I see their influence everywhere, complete from the iffy ending and teaser trailer that reeks of bad anime, the UI that reminds me more of FF than Supcom1, the designs, even the fact that Chris Taylor no longer owns the Supreme Commander IP, look at the opening titles!!!! Supcom is property of Square Enix now!!!
Imo the publisher has barged in and tried to meddle too much. Skirmish/multiplayer might work but there's a tonne of campaign bull over the top now

Has anybody succeeded in that endeavour yet?Das Bruce wrote:That's just him being a dork, if you really want to lose respect, try playing SupCom2.SwiftSpear wrote:Wow, I have lost more respect for Chris Taylor than I thought possible...
It is a little odd, but having not enjoyed any of the projects ChrisT has rolled out except TA, and having a love-hate relationship with TA (I didn't discover it until after Spring, actually), I still find myself willing to entertain the idea that this next title will be enjoyable.
