Are these two related somehow? The trailers for the videogame FEAR (what a bad acronym!) remind me strongly of the trailers for "The Ring".
I haven't seen The Ring or played FEAR yet, so I'm just curious - should I see one before the other? Etc.
Thanks
"FEAR" vs "The Ring"

FEAR should have been named GAY, I downloaded the demo and immediatly I saw how gay it was, guns which shoot in 6 round bursts? wtf? all the weapons look like a modified version of MP-5K, SPAS-12, etc.
The girl in there is definitly inspired by the Ring, she didn't even scare me in any of the scenes of the SP demo.

FEAR is obvously based on japanese horror in general and not specifically the Ring. Almost all of these movies have a girl who kills people to take revenge on her gruesome death. Also, most of them aren't really scary in the western kind of way, but they are damn creepy. Same goes for the game FEAR.
You can probably tell I love FEAR as much as I love Japan. It is definately at least as good as Max Payne. Half-Life 2 doesn't even get close and don't dare to mention Quake 4 when I'm around.

Max Payne and HL2 are a million times better than fear.Agiel wrote:You can probably tell I love FEAR as much as I love Japan. It is definately at least as good as Max Payne. Half-Life 2 doesn't even get close and don't dare to mention Quake 4 when I'm around.
The weapons and enemies were unimaginative to say the least. It scared nobody. The plot bored everybody. The acting was attrocious. The levels were plain. The bullet time was poorly implemented. All around a rather weak effort.
And that fat guy, what the fuck where they thinking when they modelled him? He looks like a cartoon character.
HL2...worse then FEAR?Agiel wrote:You can probably tell I love FEAR as much as I love Japan. It is definately at least as good as Max Payne. Half-Life 2 doesn't even get close and don't dare to mention Quake 4 when I'm around.
You've got it backwards.
HL2 kicks fears ass. Its got a better plot, its better optimised and has cooler wepons (Combine Assult rifle, anyone). Even though FEAR beats HL2 in some catigorys (Like in the shadows catigory, and dismemberments) HL2 is simply better in the all around area. Parts of FEAR made me groan, but i never once said that HL2 didnt rock.
Never.
Oh and Bruce i also wondered what the hell was up with that damn fat guy. I would of shot him on sight, if i was in that situation.
