Hello there!
I'n new here, but i couldn't find an introducing topic, so i'll start off with telling some stuff about me!:)
i'm a 18 year old dude living in one of the most boring villages of Holland. At the momend i'm buissy with my studie (i'm doing social studies) and with my hobby, and that may be working with and getting to understand ubuntu and OSX.
Here is my question:/problem (i've got two questions)
OSX:
a few days ago i found out about spring, i emediatly tried to follow the install guide made for OSX, but i can't follow it. It says i've to install a few libaries. Ive tried to install them, but i'm not thar known to the terminal that i'm really knowing what i'm exuially doing, and how i need to do some things. Can someone give me a guide or some fital info how to install some libaries? Cause i would love to play NOTA or other TA lookalikes
Ubuntu:
after trying to get spring work on osx i dicided to install ubuntu on the free space i had left on my Macbookpro, its now fully installend and running. I've downloaded all the updates and installed spring. I downloased a mod and a map to see if it would work.
When i hit the "start" button, it starts to load but after a few seconds i get my screen back and i see an error telling me this:
ubable to load defult cursor. Check that you have the required content packages installed in your Spring "base/" directory.
And i've got no idea what i've to do next... Can someone help me??

For ubuntu, which install guide and download link did you use?
Do you have anything in your spring/base directory?
Do you have anything in your spring/base directory?
Re: New to spring (ubuntu 9.10 and OSX 10.6)
I installed it using package manager
i cant check the directory right now, i'm working right now. In about 8 hours i'll be able to tell you if there is any file in that folder!

Re: New to spring (ubuntu 9.10 and OSX 10.6)
I just downloaded the updates for Spring. I hoped this would solve the problem.
when i start a game now, i'm not getting the error mentioned before, but i'm getting this error:
"Couldn't load archive 'otacontent.sdz' for mod 'Balanced Annihilation V6.61'."
How do i solve this?

Re: New to spring (ubuntu 9.10 and OSX 10.6)
really sounds like you are missing the base files for playing ota-based content (which is pretty much all anyone plays... for good or ill)... these files are not included in some repositories because they contain intellectual property ripped from total annihilation... there are sources for these files... but if that's your only problem you should use a newer version of BA because I'm pretty sure they have removed it as a dependancy.
If you are missing the OTHER contents of base... I'm not sure where you are "supposed" to get them... but if you download the "portable package" they are included.

The portable package is the windows version... it just happens to contain the base folder which in turn contains the base files you would need to put into your own base folder.
Re: New to spring (ubuntu 9.10 and OSX 10.6)
I moved the folder to the .spring folder
and
THE GAME STARTS! :D
but now i'm not experiencing a so called "smooth" gameplay. my mouse doesn't react, and the graphics are not good (a map that's supposed to have a lot of green, is white while i'm in the game...)
do i need to install some additional drivers for my graphical cart?

If you have an ati card, you need the ati binary drivers.JiK wrote:do i need to install some additional drivers for my graphical cart?

You may want to switch the mouse to hardware rendering in the settings. What is your graphics card?
