I am definitely zerg first than terran than protoss.
I always prefer the biological/space roaches side.
This preferance is purely visual since i never even played sc online.

I dislike how protoss look in sc2...a lot of their units feel hollow as oppsoe to the plup look they had in sc1.
Terrans have a nice heavy feel to them but i still prefer the insects.

So, that pritty much ended a tiring "discussion" i hope.
And its not some fucking crap that with more streamlined interface you could "concentrate more on strategy" or just sit back and manage your base or whatever. You always have to focus on micro, macro, strategy, all aspects of the game it just veries from game to game and between different players too, how you balance those for best results.
lol

95% of a proffesional starcraft players ability is to compensate for the unfriendly interface. I could probably beat a v high level SC pro if I had the ability to line draw formations, zoom out to see the whole map, select more than 12 units at once, and he had the default interface. you know why? because I would be able to perform the actions I thought strategically and tacticly optimal with extreme ease, while to do so himself he would have to perform a huge quantity of menial micromanagement.

micromanagement is a consequence of poor interface. making a players ability to rapidly keypress and scroll into a resource is shitty.

I rate IK way higher than you ever where as I have seen you both playing Spring (Mostly XTA 1v1, a lil SWIW). I 100% agree with his argument vis a vis UI optimisation/automation.

The "sweet spot" between extreme automation and intensive micro is a subjective opinion, just like the dps/hp/bt relationship in TA derivatives.

He makes a valid point though. A lot of the micro that is expected and required in SC is very menial and should be much more simplified. Simple things like advanced queue's, proper patrol orders, line formations, zoom.

The lack of all these no-brainer features makes every unit require constant babysitting, when they should only need occasional updates to tasks. The only time 'micro' should really be required is moving several units all different places on a battle field, moving to an advantageous position, dodging shots, etc. And even a large portion of that could be done in bulk with line formations.

But yes this is a very circular argument, I don't even know why I'm still talking about it. It's not like anything is going to change. Although, Soul, your absurd defense of the lack of zoom because it 'forces micro' is still retarded.

They implemented an ai into some maps and these maps you can start with the lazytown loader.

How good the AI is I cant tell but it seems to work, so now you have skirmish mode.
Im playing it later today.

Maybe start with doing strategically and tacticly optimal plays in Spring first where you have all that cool shit.
