Grass and minimap question

I am using regular mapconv...

Now I have run through the wiki's and am having trouble finding out how to put grass on my map. Can someone help out a newbie? :) (I woulda put this is my other thread but lately I've been just talking to myself in it :P

My other question... it seems that the generated minimap does not take into account water level and the heightmap.

Othe maps have mini's with detail so I'm missing something here. Can someone help me out?

The regular mapconv give very little control over grass and trees. I think it looking for green levels in the main texture, but someone else may know a more accurate answer.

The mini.bmp is left over after mapconv is finished. You don't need to do anything with it. However some people use it as a pic to go with their upload. But since it does not show water or shading I think it often gives a poor impression of the map. When do my minis I maximise the radar map, take a screen shot, crop and size. They look much better to me, the only oddity is the white squares in the corners.

Original map onv does yes, put grass and trees on areas of green, if teh rgb valuse are more than 50% green i think it is (so bluey greens escape, as do browny ones), and all teh mini maps are taken from in game screenshots, which are rendered with teh water (hence why theres often a small blue dot...)
