I know you guys still think it's my network, but why would it only be filtering out Spring?
Does Spring by any chance require the ICMP protocol too? I saw no documentation on setting up Spring for multiplayer.
On a side note: Why does SpringLobby need 100% of my CPU to operate? It's also very frequently freezing when I download maps/mods. And it was complaining there too until I manually created the ~/.spring/maps and ~/.spring/mods directories.

Well I figured it out. No, it was NOT my network, it was bad game design.
Apparently you cannot connect while the game is in progress.
Why doesn't anyone bother to mention this? It's not that obvious, especially if you just want to spectate. In fact it's counter-intuitive as most games out there will allow it. This should at least be in the FAQ.
What makes things worse is the fact that SpringLobby allows you to connect to such servers, even though they will reject (or more precisely ignore - *hint* no response detected by wireshark *hint*) your connection.
As for the other SpringLobby issues, I've resolved them too. By removing it and installing the far superior qtlobby.

i haven't heard of a single RTS game that allows it.unimatrix wrote:Apparently you cannot connect while the game is in progress.

because you can still re-connect if the game is still in pre-game phase ( before the game start timer ran out ), and there's no way to know if it went past it other than tryingunimatrix wrote:What makes things worse is the fact that SpringLobby allows you to connect to such servers, even though they will reject (or more precisely ignore - *hint* no response detected by wireshark *hint*) your connection.

Put that stuff in the FAQ please.
