I put the argument ahead of the statement...==Troy== wrote:you are also forgetting that you can also change mouse sensitivity. And instead of having to sweat over to move this bit by JUST one pixel, you lower the sensitivity and swing your mouse good 5 cm until it moved just the amount you need.
Invalidating an argument is simple, by just saying it is invalid. You gave no arguments against it, effectively just trolling.
let's say I have a touch pad with a screen and I have software that makes it so that when it sense 2 fingers in the right context is treats them as a mouse, pushing one down counts as a left click, pushing the other down is a right click, moving a cursor on the screen mouse-style rather then traditional touch-screenery, lifting both fingers stops the cursor moving like lifting a mouse, continues where it left off when I put them down again... it all comes down to software what your "fingers" are actually doing with a touchscreen, with a mouse there's only one single point of input available, period... whatever... you're not going to believe me anyways, you're a keyboard-mouse-fanboi and there's no helping it.
Re: Mac iPad
Sinbad you are not getting that precision pretty much is the ability to select one pixel accurately.
Re: Mac iPad
No, I understood what you meant by precision, you are obviously not getting something about my example. Here, I'll draw you a picture.Gertkane wrote:Sinbad you are not getting that precision pretty much is the ability to select one pixel accurately.

Also:
I'm not sure what YOUR definition of analogue is but, a mouse is no more or less an analogue input then a touchscreen... both have a variable sensor that is converted to a digital equivalent value. It's just that in the case of a mouse you are moving the sensor and on a touch pad you are moving the thing being sensed (finger or stylus).==Troy== wrote:Mouse will _always_ have better precision than any attempt for an analogue input. Place mouse on touchscreen.
Start moving.

OMG its the NewFashionCraze, we got to drop all work and jump on the wagon, to make SpringApp fit on the to the I-Plate. It wont be spring afterwards, but hey, its the thing of the day.

Re: Mac iPad
touchpad blows 9000x more than the mouse, why should I be any more enthusiastic about touchscreen? shit sucks, and you'll look like a dipshit when your stretched foward, smearing your greasy hands all over the screen as you play
Re: Mac iPad
well that's why we have a context menu, if you want to do something you don't know how, you right click, see "rotate ctrl+click" and click on rotate and learn you can do it with ctrl + click, because if your example works to rotate things it doesn't for anything else we can't do with our fingersaegis wrote:if they already knew how to use a multitouch surface, or already knew how to use a mouse, which do you think would be more natural? pressing a nonstandard key in harmony with moving a point on an x/y plane, or applying the concepts you already understand of touch, and physically applying rotational motion to the object with your fingers?
Re: Mac iPad
Lumping all touchscreens in together is like saying a logitech MX revolution is a load of garbage because my ten year old ball mouse with 2 buttons and a fiddly wire, doesn't work properly, therefore all mice are trash
Re: Mac iPad
how about a duel touchscreen vs. mouse to get this over with? Game is ahem Quake: ET, you name place and time, and we decide whos right.

wait wtf is this. can i get?KaiserJ wrote:

Dunno how I missed MS's Courier concept but this is certainly something I want.
I was dreaming about that kind of tablet for quite a long time! I'm not too optimistic about it tho, at least not for near future ( <1 year), but I'm looking forward to this whenever it's coming out.
Uses are limitless for everyone imo. It would be perfect for engineers also (obviously more for mechanical and such than computer), especially with vector drawing and A4 sized screens!
I fing love how consumer tech is developing.
