Re: New Fallout ?
how delayed are we talking?
Re: New Fallout ?
Conservative guess, three months to five months delay, or a very, very rushed release.

Whats the big deal of firing one guy?
big franchise game dev teams usually consist of tens of people.

You can't cite insider information.Regret wrote:[citation needed]neddiedrow wrote:Fallout: New Vegas will probably be delayed. I know because I have some insider information which tells me that at least one of the members of the team was laid off with the recent video game industry problems.
Re: New Fallout ?
A friend of mine inspired me to play through oblivion again. He recommended FCOM - a mod combining many awesome gameplay changing mods. That and deadly reflex + 250% damage makes some insanely difficult encounters (20+ creeps in a single room, each capable of killing you with a few power attacks). Many many mods affecting various aspects of gameplay and adding new places and items really make it worth much more than vanilla.KaiserJ wrote:i heard oblivion can be quite good with third party mods, but i never tried any of them...

Re: New Fallout ?
i know fallout 3 is one of the best sp games out there because i keep coming back to it. Its best with all dlc, destruction mod, mmm, fwe, wmk, and a few others (animation fixes and difficulty). Makes the gameplay more like mw2 but in a way more awesome setting plus rpg!
Re: New Fallout ?
I don't know...
The combat in fallout 3 is boring cause of the engine..
a lot of the side quest are kinda immature predictable and boring(there are some ok ones).
Game adds absolutely nothing new to the genre.
Where is the innovation in gameplay?
even the decision about nuking or not nuking megaton felt boring.
On top of age old gameplay there isn't much bling.
Game looks ok but not more.
The entire game just relies on the already established world of fallout, which is awesome and fun.
In fallout 2 there was this atmosphere of desperation, wilderness and anarchy in Bethesda's creation it just felt like one big joke.

Re: New Fallout ?
Vault 106 was total piece of pc-game art in my opinion
Re: New Fallout ?
Combat in Fallout 3 was boring because they implemented the real-time element incorrectly. Accuracy had nothing to do either with stats or with FPS ability, nor was it impacted by weapon condition.
Re: New Fallout ?
it may be a piece of art but it is still a mediocre game
this is not only my desktop background but the point at which I stopped playing

There are mods that do a good job of fixing this.neddiedrow wrote:Combat in Fallout 3 was boring because they implemented the real-time element incorrectly. Accuracy had nothing to do either with stats or with FPS ability, nor was it impacted by weapon condition.
What i am saying that fallout 3 plus mods has excellent fps elements and makes it more into a sweet fps with really nice rpg elements. Dunno guys but i love clearing sewers and DC and raider outposts and enclave bases with weapons and scant ammo i find along the way. breaching doors with grenades, shooting the lights out for stealth, and zombies that get back up again or crawl on the floor if you shoot their legs off make it that much better.
the greatest think about fallout 3 is the geck, and what talented players have done with it.
Re: New Fallout ?
Well, which mods would you recommend I grab if I decide to play it again? I'm a tremendous fan of a post-apocalyptic, rather than high/nano science, future.

Yeah same here.neddiedrow wrote:Well, which mods would you recommend I grab if I decide to play it again? I'm a tremendous fan of a post-apocalyptic, rather than high/nano science, future.
Anyway here are some of the mods I use in the order of importance:
1. Fallout 3 Wanderers Edition: An overhaul mod that does alot of stuff including fps-style grenade hotkey, matrix mode, improved combat, more realistic first aid and crippling effects, alot more drugs with corresponding visuals and effects (things can look really astral at times), ability to open locked containers with explosives, removed the cheaty detection messages that let you know if people see you, and 1000 other minor things that make the game alot better. There is another overhaul mod called "FOOK", but imo it sucks. Just adds a bunch of modern guns to it without any sort of gameplay enhancement. I found it rather confusing and stupid. YOU DEFINITELY WANT THIS MOD (FWE for short).
2. Mart's Mutant Mod: A mod that really improves wasteland monsters. There are more monsters, more types of monsters, and sweet stuff with gouls, like gouls that literally pop out of no where and scare the shit out of you, relying on your quick reflexes to shotty them in the head. Also cool stuff like gouls will ocassionally get back up after you have shot their arms off or crawl on the floor if you shoot off legs. Only way to be sure they are dead is a double tap to the head. :) There is a good extension to this mod that adds the mutants from stalker that I like to use.
Oh yeah if you thought deathclaws were hard try deathclaw matriarchs, and if you dont like behemoths, you definitely wont like gargantuans!
Woops i forgot another thing, monsters are a bit smarter and start doing stuff like attacking eachother, and looting and stuff.
3. Destruction: Great mod where everything can be destroyed. Dont want to go around the barricade? Then BLOW IT UP! Cant get that door open? SHOOT THE FUCK OUT OF IT! Dont want to be noticed by the guards? SHOOT THE LIGHTS OUT!
Not a very noticeable mod, but when you disable it things will seem less real. A wooden shelf shouldnt survive a nuke....
4. Weapon Mod Kits: This mod allows you to add scopes, lasers sights, extended magazines, silencers, and/or autofire mechanisms to certain weapons. These kits are often hard to find, which balances the mod, but they are very rewarding. Just so you know alien blaster + autofire makes a weapon that kills anything in just a few seconds, usually less than one. Its hilarious (but of course there is something like <100 ammos for that gun so its a stupid idea). Scoped assault rifles are a great thing, and autofire plasma weapons are fun too.
5. Visual enhancing mods such as Fellout (if you like nicer looking weather), EVE or EWE (EVE makes energy weapons look like complete sex, EWE goes beyond that but has compatibility issues with FWE), AlexScorpians FPS Animations (makes you look down the sights of a gun when you aim, doesnt really effect anything but makes it feel more awesome and fps-like). Oh there is one that makes streetlights look better too. There is another mod called DC interiors that fills in alot of the empty and inaccessible buildings in downtown which is very nice.
DISCLAIMER: You will need something called FOMM (mod manager) to correctly use all these mods. This will allow you to order them in the right order. The more mods you use, the more difficulty you are likely to have with compatibility and crashing/not working. There are lots of compatibility patches, and forum posts to help you order them.
If all else fails, just install FWE, as its by far the best and most important mod.
Oh yeah i recommend all the dlcs too. It is very easy to obtain them by questionable means if you know what i mean. If you are going to buy them, here is my personal ranking:
1. Operation Anchorage - REALLY AWESOME ww3 battle sim in alaska
2. Brotherhood of Steel - EPIC GAME ENDING, and unlimited play after main quest, plus more MEGA ROBOT FUN!
3. The Pitt - Interesting quest, fun powersaw weapons for tearing through zombies, and a useful ammo press. Oh a really cool-looking powerarmor made out of scrap metal and bones and stuff.
4. Mothership Zeta - ALIENNES ZOMGZZ and fun weapons, oh and there IS A SAMURAI AND A COWBOY ITS SO COOL!!!
5. Whatever that one was called full of the inbred nutcases with shotguns on that island. and the fat zombies, and the shotguns, and the axes. oh yeah Point Lookout. Maybe its better than Zeta actually, but imo it was fun being on a spaceship, and the alien weapons are lots of fun.
