Yay for extreemly bizare and outrageous stories! My favorite type. Having a trigger happy AI thing makes it even better. But that still dont help me know what a tokomak is. Im guessing they picked up Abdul at Cynthia's place.

Yeah, well see our hero was out of it for a few hours, and in those hours EVERYTHING WENT TO HELL!!

With a sudden lack of polcie force, the crime rate in the City skyrocketed, and a riot broke out. Pretty much every gun shop in town was targeted over the course of a few minuts, and so Abdul hid out in his sisters place, missing most of his shots. Now he's begging to wish he hadent come along for the ride.

A tokamack is a fusion generator, but Tokamack is easyer to type and sounds cooler!

Ah now that clears up a lot. Now the story makes much more sense. But you still ripped the reavers from Serenity.

Well they like killing people, they come in hordes, they sound a bit like zombies, they always get owned, and they kick total butt. How is that not like the Serenity Reavers? Apart from the many good reasons you listed of course...

Well Reavers, aside from having a kickass name where once part of the Techurch (a slurring of Technology Church). Unfortunantly there are always some psychos in every group, and Reavers seem to be the worst of the lot. Constantly on the look out for new tech, they will go into a bezerk rage when seeing a 'infedel' useing/owning anything that they want.

Whatever the cant hold, they graft onto there bodys, turning themselves into a cyborg with more metal in its head then brains. They also wear a verity of symboles, ranging from upsidown crusifixs, hexagons ext, that all are made of something radioactive. They think radiation is a blessing from the Destroyer, there patron diety.

It is true, though, that you can own them easly. Because they dont have proper tactics, and ususaly will just gather up a bunch of freinds and raid places. Any place that has a halfwit or up commanding its garrison will do fine. However they can be dangerous in large numbers, like everything else, and when they actually GET there technology.

Only ONE person managed to talk his way out of being..."recruited" into the Reavers (that is he avoided a sudden, painfull and lasting lobotomy).

Can you guss who?

Or so i thought.

The silence was as shocking as the constant gunfire from the Reavers. I looked around, listening. There was some sound outside the door. Then the door crumpled inward slightly as a massive clawed fist smashed into it, denting it. I jerked back. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh crap├óÔé¼┬Ø Abdul said, pulling out his sword. ├óÔé¼┼ôThat about sums it up├óÔé¼┬Ø I said. The door clanged again, another clawed fist smashing into it.

├óÔé¼┼ôGreat time for the A.I to die on us├óÔé¼┬Ø Cynthia said. Muti lit up a cigarettes with a match he had fished out of his pockets. ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm not dead├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said. The door folded slightly inward, the upper right corner folding inward. A Reavers ugly mug looked in, but he stuck his gun arm into the opening and sprayed a poorly aimed hail of bullets. I ducked. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat the hell! Get the power back on!├óÔé¼┬Ø i shouted at the A.I.

├óÔé¼┼ôWhy should i do that?├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I asked. The Reavers managed to get half way in the room, his gun arm aimed directly at me. Then Abdul brought his cutlass down on the arm, slicing it in half after one of two poorly aimed hacks. The Reavers backed off, howling. I grabbed the arm, let the severed, atrophied real arm fall out , and shoved my hand into it and found the button, normally pressed by the Reavers thumb. The gun jerked back in my hand, blood pouring out of the back, splattering my white shirt red.

The Reavers who was trying to pry the door the rest of the way down fell back, his head blowing, roughly, in half. Brains splattered, along with two very clunky looking implants. Muti and Abdul shoved the door, managing to get it almost closed. I placed the gun arm in the hole and fired a long, extended burst. Howls of rage found their ways into the room, but no more Reavers tried to force there way in.

I leaned back against the Bio bed that Cynthia lay on. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou could get the fuck up and help!├óÔé¼┬Ø i snapped. ├óÔé¼┼ôHey, its not my fault that i got shot in the worst spot├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, pointing to the rather huge hole in her side. ├óÔé¼┼ôThose nanobots should of healed you by now├óÔé¼┬Ø i said, but then i started and turned to the nearest speaker. ├óÔé¼┼ôNow why are the lights out?├óÔé¼┬Ø i asked.

├óÔé¼┼ôExistence is boring├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said simply ├óÔé¼┼ôI have decided to make it more interesting├óÔé¼┬Ø. I sighed ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd now the computer has completely flipped out├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôIf you want the lights back on, leave the Medical bay├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said. ├óÔé¼┼ôThen you will proceeded to fight the Reavers, with no lights or any other assistance. The longer you keep me entertained├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I paused for a beat ├óÔé¼┼ôthe longer your friends stay alive├óÔé¼┬Ø.

├óÔé¼┼ôWhat are you going to do to them that the Reavers wont do already├óÔé¼┬Ø i asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôThere is a lethal biotoxin in this room, contained in a quarantine forcefield. If power was routed away from that and into the holochambers, then mabey the lethal gas will kill every living thing in the base├óÔé¼┬Ø. I gaped ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat the hell was this base researching?├óÔé¼┬Ø asked Cynthia, mouth agape.

├óÔé¼┼ôYou don't want to know├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said. I got up, raising my hands in submission ├óÔé¼┼ôI'll play your game├óÔé¼┬Ø i said. ├óÔé¼┼ôGood. Just to make this fare, there is a secret in every room├óÔé¼┬Ø The A.I said ├óÔé¼┼ôIn this room there is an instrument for revenge. It is hidden in the most obvious place├óÔé¼┬Ø. I looked around as red lights flickered on, presumably to enhance the mood.

├óÔé¼┼ôObvious place...obvious place├óÔé¼┬Ø i said. Abdul began to look round. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo helping├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said and he stopped. I found a small sink, and decided to look in it. I remembered something. There was always a blender in the drain...the last place you want to stick your hand. I was about to stick my hand in the blender, but remembered the A.I sense of humor. I grabbed a rod of metal, commonly called a knitting needle, and jammed it into the blender.

Silence. I pulled out the rod and began to slowly lower my hand into the blender. Right before my fingers reached it, the damn thing started up. I jerked my hand out of the blender as it whirred menacingly. ├óÔé¼┼ôJust playing with you├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said, shutting the blender down. Gritting my teeth i reached in and pulled out the, rather scratched, gun from the blender.

├óÔé¼┼ôGood├óÔé¼┬Ø i whispered, checking the magazine of the pistol. It was a full nine round clip. ├óÔé¼┼ônow pray tell why the hell a pistol is in a blender?├óÔé¼┬Ø i asked the computer, rubbing my temples. ├óÔé¼┼ôSimple. One of the employs of the base found that her husband was having an affair with his coworker. So she smuggled in the gun, hid it in the sink and was going to shoot him the day after, when he would be cleaning out the medical bay. But then the nukes started firing, and I'm sure she was other wise occupied├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said.

├óÔé¼┼ôAnd you knew it was there...how?├óÔé¼┬Ø Muti asked, even though i was still more preoccupied with the fact that i was going to be fighting twenty plus Reavers with nine bullets. ├óÔé¼┼ôShe wasn't that good of a smuggler├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said, and a door opened as it did so. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell, off you go├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said cheerfully. I grabbed Abdul's sword, and steeped out and the door closed behind me, cutting off his complaints.

The corridor was dark, and i heard the sounds of Reavers clanking around in the distance. I slunk down the corridor, keeping low and making as little sounds as i could. Then i stopped, took off my boots and left them there. The mud was tracking, and even thought he floor was very cold, i would rather go barefoot then make unnecessary noise. Then i continued on my way.

I turned left and kept going. I thought this was the way to the main door, and the Cobra assault rifles we had left there, so it seemed the logical place to go. ├óÔé¼┼ôHaving fun?├óÔé¼┬Ø asked the A.I. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat!├óÔé¼┬Ø i shouted, tension causing adrenalin to pump through my blood. ├óÔé¼┼ôHavering fun?├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said, louder this time. ├óÔé¼┼ôNO GOD DAMN IT!├óÔé¼┬Ø i shouted, angry. Then a gun shot sounded, and the wall next to my head showered sparks. I jerked back, falling down as a hail of bullets perforated the wall.

I looked to the Reaver, a stocky man with a gun arm and a largish brain implant. It stuck off to the left of his head, and i aimed for it. My bullet caused the battery powering whatever the hell clockwork that ran a Reaver's brain to short out, violently. The Reaver stood stalk still, then fell sideways, landing on its back. I ran over and took out the cutlass and hacked. The Reavers seemed to let there muscles atrophy, so the arm that slid out of the surrounding metal was skinny and white. But the white might have been caused by blood loss. I steeped back from the disgusting blood pool that was formed by the arterial blood fountaining out of the severed arm.

I holstered the pistol and asked the A.I ├óÔé¼┼ôCould i have some light?├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôno├óÔé¼┬Ø was the predicted reply, so i started to feel around in the blood slicked interior of the gun arm. Each arm was different, and i prayed that this Reaver was low enough on there...semblance of social order that he didn't have a implant controlled arm. He didn't, as i accidentally pressed the thumb button that caused the gun arm's gun to fired into the floor.

The next Reaver i found was surprised to see a gun arm on a non-Reaver. His surprise lasted long enough for me to blast his head apart with a well aimed burst. The gun arm was heavy, and hard to keep on my arm, but it was a high caliber, rapid fire machine gun. I'd have to be crazy not to give it up.

Two Reavers came on me next, but one had two mechanical claws attached to his hand sockets, and a largish third arm grafted onto his spine. I blew his compatriot apart first, as he had what i thought was a gun arm. Then the two claws exploded forward, thrown towards me by small explosives. Wires attached them to the Reavers arms, and one of the claws clamped onto my leg. I fell, my gun arm falling off as the Reaver began to reel me in.

I reached around, trying to get out one of my other weapons. My left arm, the one that had used the gun arm, was achingly tired and soaked with the Reaver who had owned the gun arm's blood. The claw reeled in completely, letting go of me a few feet from the Reaver. I tried to crawl away, but his third arm grabbed my by the back of my shirt and lifted me so i could stair into the Reavers eye. His right eye was just a mass of scar tissue. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou will die├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, his voice raspy and threatening. ├óÔé¼┼ôSorry to disappoint├óÔé¼┬Ø I said.

Then drew the cutlass and hacked at the nearest part of his body. The blade dug into his side, slipping past and through his ribs. The mechanical arm that was holding me captive let go, and i plummeted to the floor, hitting it hard. The Reaver screeched, and the top half of his body leaned sickeningly to the right, while his legs remained rooted the the spot.

Then he fell, quite dead. I got up shakily, and was glad i couldn't see my self. I probably looked more like a Reaver then myself, with all the blood. I stood up and walked slowly back to the gun arm that had fallen by the wayside. I slowly bent over and picked it up, then walked down the hall. The next time i hit a intersection i went right. But then something caught my eye. An open door.

I walked into the room and found it to be the last thing i was expecting. A giant pit. I stepped into the darkness and fell straight forward, but i didn't land. Rather i began to spin slowly in space, and nausea swamped my brain. I tried to throw up, but hadn't eaten enough recently, so it ended up being just a lot of dry hacking. I began to rotate slowly. Slowly the realization hit my brain that i had somehow lost gravity.

Fortunately the doorway was LESS dark then the zero gee chamber, so i some how managed to wriggle myself over to the door, grab on and pull my self through. But i came out on top, and fell a meter or so to the ground. More accurately half my body fell, and the other half floated gently around in the zee gee chamber. I dragged myself the rest of the way before something bad could happen, and then lay panting on the floor.

├óÔé¼┼ôwhat...the hell was that?├óÔé¼┬Ø i whispered. ├óÔé¼┼ôThe Zee Gee chamber├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said ├óÔé¼┼ôIt was originally going to be used to test our anti-gravity weapons and generators├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôAND?├óÔé¼┬Ø i asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôThe generator overloaded, blew out the door and created a perpetually sustained Zee Gee field├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôhow?├óÔé¼┬Ø i asked, sitting up. ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't know├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said.

I got up slowly, stretched my back and got shot.

Zee is for zero, and Gee is for Gravity!

"But the Zee Gee watersurfuing bord for the best in ocieanic entertainment"

or something to that extent.

Plus Z, depending on where you are from, can be pronunced two ways (Zed and Zee), while Zee is always just Zee.

The bullet, fortunately for ME, hit the gun arm that covered my stretching arm. The impact staggered me, long enough for three more bullets to whizzed by me. ├óÔé¼┼ôGod damn Reavers cant hit for shit├óÔé¼┬Ø i muttered as i raised the gun arm and blew the Reaver's face off. Then i examined the gun arm, and grinned. Just a dent. I started to walk down the corridor.

A red door caught my eye. I turned and squinted, reading out the signed painted on the door. ├óÔé¼┼ôFire Exit├óÔé¼┬Ø it read. I tried to slide the door open, but found it locked.

BANG! BANG!

The door, derived of its hinges, tottered slowly inward and fell with a clang, smashing against the sides of the Fire exit. I then started to climb down the ladder. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhere are you going?├óÔé¼┬Ø asked the A.I. I ignored it. I got to the bottom of the exit and found the door, feeling out the hinges.

BANG!BANG!

The door didn't budge. I pushed it. It moved forward, slightly. I stepped back a few paces, until i hit the other side of the fire exit. Then i charged forward and smashed into the door with my body. It felt like i had been run over, but the effect i desired was archived. The door fell forward onto the Tokamak chamber and i stepped shakily into the dark room.

Every few seconds though a blue-white light shone through the cracks in the containment vessel. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhats that?├óÔé¼┬Ø i asked the A.I. ├óÔé¼┼ôThats the plasma stream pulsing in regular time with a .0001 magnetic failure, causing light to uncontrollably flare├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat are you doing?├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh well, you turned off the lights├óÔé¼┬Ø i said, walking over to the control console and squinting at the buttons in the intermediate light from the Tokamak.

I started flipping dials and turning knobs, continuing my speech to the A.I. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo you said i couldn't have help, but you said nothing about turning the damn lights on!├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh...i guess├óÔé¼┬Ø the A.I said slowly ├óÔé¼┼ôWait!├óÔé¼┬Ø it shouted ├óÔé¼┼ôDONT D-├óÔé¼┬Ø suddenly lights came on and the blue neon light that surrounding the room's ceiling dimmed and went off.

I laughed ├óÔé¼┼ôFUCK YOU!├óÔé¼┬Ø i shouted at the now defunct computer speaker. I flipped it off for good measure and walked over to the elevator and called it. After a few seconds the elevator came down to my floor. With a soft chime the doors slid open onto. Four very angry and bloody looking Reavers. I didn't bother swearing, diving to the side as a hail of deadly bullets tore through the air formally occupied by me. The console that controlled the Tokamak was shredded, sending sparks flying in every direction as shards of metal carved up the delicate innards of the thing.

I, unfortunately, hit the far wall as i had miss timed and aimed my dive. I felt a little dazed, but manged to bring the gun arm up to the Elevator door. A Reaver poked its ugly head through the door. I fired a quick three round burst, blasting its brains all over the other side of the wall. The corpse fell straight down and the elevator doors tried closing on it, repeatedly. Each time it was accentuated by a light ding.

The second Reaver was a little more intelligent. As i was getting up, blood rushing to my head as the blood loss, exhaustion and general feeling like crap caught up to me. As i stood up a rudimentary frag grenade flew through the elevator door that was still pitifully closing on the corpse. I ducked behind the nearest cover and covered my head with the gun arm.

The explosion blew out my hearing, and for a odd ringing sound. I got up and looked at the damage. Small bits of metal and wiring floated around the room, the lights flickered and the entire area was a seen of chaos. The three surviving Reavers where running in and firing at me. A bullet whipped by my head as my hearing slowly came back. I fired back, blasting large gory holes in the third Reaver. The one with grenades grabbed another. I fired at him, hitting one of the inflammatory grenades on his belt.

I ducked as flames erupted in the room, and the two surviving Reavers screamed in agony. One of them was firing convulsively, but in a few seconds there where several loud bangs, explosions and more blasts of flame as all the grenades on the belt exploded. Needless to say, it was VERY loud. I simply continued to crotch behind the console. I got up and stood, blood running down several lacerations cut by flying shrapnel.

The room was seriously messed up, to say the least. I had a hard time seeing any thing through the inferno that was rapidly spreading due to the jellied gasoline that the Reavers had made the grenades from. I was about to worry about being roasted alive when a gun went off and hit me right smack dab in the leg. I crumpled, hitting the floor and somehow managing to stay conscious.

I used my good leg to push myself behind the somewhat damaged console. None of the other bullets aimed at me hit and soon i was spirited away behind the console, safe from the bullets. At least until one of them punched through the already damaged metal. As i lay there, fighting off unconsciousness, i looked back to how i had gotten here. ├óÔé¼┼ôI would like to say that I had a bad feeling that day, but at the time I felt great├óÔé¼┬Ø. The flames began to make the console unbearably hot.

I slid my hand out of the gun arm and felt my pocket. I felt something in it. ├óÔé¼┼ôoh...whats this in my pocket├óÔé¼┬Ø i said, sitting up. The top of my head showed over the console, but no bullet hit it. I pulled out whatever was in my pocket and found it to be that damned PAX. ├óÔé¼┼ôThis is all YOUR fault!├óÔé¼┬Ø i shouted at it.

Then i threw it as hard as i could through the flames. ├óÔé¼┼ôThanks├óÔé¼┬Ø someone said, somehow his voice addable over the fires ├óÔé¼┼ôI guess that proves your not a Reaver├óÔé¼┬Ø. A fire extinguisher went off, dousing the fires quickly and deftly. The smoke cleared and i saw none other then Muti, holding a lean rifle ├óÔé¼┼ôLook who's here in time to save your ass├óÔé¼┬Ø. I gaped ├óÔé¼┼ôYou thought... i was a Reaver├óÔé¼┬Ø i said slowly, limping over to him.

├óÔé¼┼ôWell through the fire and smoke, with the gun arm you stole, it was really hard not to tell├óÔé¼┬Ø Muti said. He held up the PAX ├óÔé¼┼ôBut you throwing this through the flames cinched it├óÔé¼┬Ø.

Part Three: A brief Interlude

I was led to the medica bay, hooked up to some chemical's and left to rest. Everyone else seemed to be doing well, and from gunshots coming from down the hall the Reavers where providing little to no resistance. So i lay back and dreamed.

Interestingly enough i dreamed of the first time i met Cynthia. She had arrived at the city with a caravan of weapons suppliers, roughly seven years ago. Her influential father had traveled all the way from the near mythical ├óÔé¼┼ôOasis├óÔé¼┬Ø, a city built around one of the remaining Great lakes. He had set up shop and my father had went over there to equip and arm his new and unfamiliar Police Force.

├óÔé¼┼ôSo do you want lethal weapons?├óÔé¼┬Ø Cynthia's father, a rotunded egg shaped man, said. ├óÔé¼┼ôYes├óÔé¼┬Ø my pops had said ├óÔé¼┼ôWe are going to protect this city... even if the city doesn't WANT to be protected├óÔé¼┬Ø. Yup...that was my pops. He was like that for four years after Mom died. I was hiding behind him, being a rather paranoid fifteen year old. I was quickly bored with the haggling, which Pops had always wanted me to learn the fine art of debate.

So my eyes roved around the shop and i laid eye's on Cynthia, who was a sprightly sixteen at the time. That is she was dressed in the clothes anyone would wear on a sweltering summer day, at the hight of noon. That is skimpy, to say the lest. Being rather preoccupied with the more attractive females of our fine species, i ogled her for a good five minuets as she cleaned and checked over a AK-47 with a smooth precision.

After that though, she looked up at her father and i quickly looked away, glad she hadn't noticed. I averted my eyes and looked at the formidable array of weapons arrayed in the shop. After my pops had made the deal, we left and i entered a phase of my life i call ├óÔé¼┼ôStoic Pining├óÔé¼┬Ø. I would stair across the street at the plane wreck that Cynthia's father had made his home, wondering if i could just ASK her out for one date.

See there where other girls my age in the area, but due to my fathers semi-successful crack down on crime, the prostitutes that i WOULD of ogled where gone. And my pops would of never agreed if i had asked for the money. So i imagined Cynthia's exotic beauty for quite a while. The only thing that stopped me from asking her out on a date was her Father.

See her father was unusually puritanical about his daughter (which rubbed off onto Abdul, if you haven't noticed) so when i managed to pluck up the courage to ask her out, she frowned and said ├óÔé¼┼ôI need to ask my dad├óÔé¼┬Ø. My face immediately became very hot and red, and i ran away with a hurried ├óÔé¼┼ôNever mind├óÔé¼┬Ø mumbled at her.

However a year later of salivating from a distance, which i would later learn was defined as ├óÔé¼┼ôstalking├óÔé¼┬Ø, her father dropped dead from a massive heart attack. I was glad on the inside, but managed to be possibly shocked and sorry for her for about a month and a half. Then i asked her out.

She frowned ├óÔé¼┼ôSo now my fathers out of the way, you can ask me out? Is that it!├óÔé¼┬Ø she shouted, shoving the flowers i had offered her in my face. ├óÔé¼┼ôI never want to see you again!├óÔé¼┬Ø she practically screamed, turning away from me and running into the house she and her brother had inherited from her pops.

I was not just humiliated and crushed, but also...well that sums it up. Humiliated and crushed. But i was still resolute to win her heart. And so five years of trying to curry her favor, i walked into her store to hand in some guns we had gleaned from a raid on a Syndi garrison. ├óÔé¼┼ôHey├óÔé¼┬Ø i said prepared for a cold stair at worse, and rolled eyes at best. But she smiled and thanked me.

I could of keeled over right then. Eleven months later, and five semi-successfully dates i walked her home. I was pretty sure she had also inherited at lest some of her fathers views on sex, so i was pretty sure to keep everything on a ├óÔé¼┼ôFriends├óÔé¼┬Ø level. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo i guess this is it├óÔé¼┬Ø i said, grinning. She smiled and then threw herself into my arms.

It was six year and eleven months later, but i had finally achieved my dream. Too bad when i woke up with a splitting hangover i had no idea what had happened until i rolled over. I was unsure as to whether or not she had done it because of the booze until about...five days ago. Then i woke up to see her smiling face...again.
