you select one color which will be transparent the rest is opaque but you can make a rank icon without transparency like the grey ones above

yeah green is surely better than grey ... and a big grey star is better than a golden one ... it doesn't make more sense

what i did is silver star on black background then golden star, then silver background (more silver = better) then golden background (more gold = better)

the icons you made doesnt make much sense... you just inverted the colors and call it higher rank.

Updated to satisfy all of your requests:
1) darker
2) yellow



(i just picked the color from the gold star rank and colorized by using it with luminance)

IMO we wouldnt need more than 4 ranks actually... skip first 3 and last 1 superstar (the golden vet) the first 3 ranks are kinda useless... doesnt much tell anything about his skill levels... so the noob rank could be just no image, and then next level up would be the fourth rank.

Edit: it makes more sense when noobs wont get a rank by default, we dont have default ranks in army either... we need to earn the first rank. (well okay we have rank icon, but only in books... its not on our suits at all. until you earn one. though, not sure is this normal procedure... maybe we dont have it because it would be waste of time/money to do that for noobs...)

OK so the new rank icons really don't go well with the old ones. Either replace all the ranks in that style or use Trade's set.

Or just tell me how I can use my own rank images.

@Satirik: The Help-Page2 is showing the old rank icons still (and only 7 of them)... just a detail I suppose.

Am i the only one that thinks that allowing people to customize their own icons kinda beats the point of wanting higher ranks?
A high rank is cool for bragging,"look at me im pro",if anyone can customize their ranks they can just make the highest ranks look like lower ranks...

I thought we already discussed that ranks ARE meaningless... and anyway... if you modify them in the way you have described you'll know what you have done.

Ranks feels something like achievement when you are noob... "wow im veteran :O !!" then few hours later you notice *autobalance* and stuff, and then you just want to go back... even if you dont get fucked with autobalance, still its just few minutes thrill really... so i dont much care about that customizing, springlobby already have its own shitty rank icons (and flags...) so its not a big problem.

But i agree there should be some consistence, i dont like to have million different icons, so if we make some guide/manuals, its annoying to explain to people if theres dozen of possible icons.

Edit: and how would you feel anything for the ranks satirik made? they all look almost same.. boring looking.
