The Next Big Bang?

Just wondered which technology, gadget or device you think will be the next big thing, changing the world forever. Plz no hypes, just things really under everyone elses radar, and dont forget to mention, why everybody will need IT.

My two cents i bet on:
The I┬│-Phone (Cracked edition) not only able to transfering warez the phone by phone way (therfore completely avoiding the intertubes-censorship) but also can be worn as a sort of overlay googles, showing who has howmany Poasts on Springboard(white angelic postcount overlayer) and who has the most x-box archievments( flaming fiery walking inferno-thingy)

i ran playstation games on our missiles. Was a simple version of bomberman which only displayed game over.

The crossbar design used to make smaller, faster, and cheaper microchips that currently being fabricated by Hewlett-Packard Labs. The smallest transistors currently made are 32 nanometers wide and about 96 silicon atoms across. The crossbar design will set parallel nanowires in one plane that crosses over a second set of wires like 2 perpendicular highways. A buffer layer one molecule thick will be between the wires and the intersections between the 2 sets of wires will act like switches or store information. The intersections are called memresistors and 1 memresistor can do the work of 10 or 15 transistors. That should definitely increase our computer capabilities.

Tbh I have troubles finding that kind of stuff impressive, because I find it already hard to imagine how a calculator works.
Doubt that will change our daily life as much as say, the CD, telephone or mp3.

That might be more interessting, if googles with screens go mainstream it would influence daily life for sure.
Not only will WoW get even more fun with virtual reality but also it will be easier to check emails on the bus or do some work while sitting in a restaurant. Headphones are cool because they let me listen to slayer's RAINING BLOOD TADA TADA TADA TADA BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM
while buying milk but in the future it will be possible to check out their myspace at the same time! Cool!

HUD Goggles that overlay information on your field of vision are a good bet... but I'm still thinking Magnetoresistive, Phase-change memory and other alternative non-volatile memory solutions which promise faster read-write speed then current RAM while also being about as cheap (or cheaper) to produce as flash memory and typically at lower power usage...

The main problem is that the brain is spaghetti code. Also, there is no soul, half an hour reading about how brains work could tell you that.

i just said most discoveries do not have such a huge impact on everydays life. only if they are used in some ways it really changes our lives. which this thread is about.

There are lot of "cool" innovations.

Of course the scientists claim they're "pretty sure" that won't happen so I really feel much safer now. On the other hand that comment usually comes just after "we're trying to discover how the universe started" so you have to wonder how if they don't know how the universe started they can be so confident about how it's (not) going to end.

I for one would feel better knowing that anything involving words like "high-energy", "strange attractors" and "big bang" in the same discussion would remain theoretical.
