Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
The map still keeps bumping a lot sync errors. Although, after testing, its hard to say whether they are "real" or not...
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
there was some weird deal with the paths folder and you having an old version of the map path precalc could cause an issue.
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
Have you tested in 0.81.0?SirArtturi wrote:The map still keeps bumping a lot sync errors. Although, after testing, its hard to say whether they are "real" or not...

So, this version should fix current sync error problems?Tobi wrote:Have you tested in 0.81.0?SirArtturi wrote:The map still keeps bumping a lot sync errors. Although, after testing, its hard to say whether they are "real" or not...

Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
Ok, version2 is tested further and sync errors are still there pretty clearly. People are playing two different games and its almost half and a half. So, some are synced and some not.
I observed, that first game with no mapoptions made, just a run with default options, caused sync error for only 1 player. Second one, with one option turned on, caused sync error for 2 players. Then third run: Rain gadget and couple other options on, caused total fiasco.
Finally a game, with only one setting turned on afterwards, when battleroom was full and everyone got the map = total fiasco. This would basically mean, that if you dont set the options before anyone joins, it will cause a lot of problems. Now, tell me why so?
I also tested this theory by asking which lobby people were using and sync errors appeared with both of the usergroups. So its not a lobby problem. There must be something broken with mapoptions...

Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
pls dont use "special" in the new version thx
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
It might be that map options are completely bugged. Are there any popular maps with mapoptions? Iirc, the only guy really experimenting with them is Smoth, and he can count his player-base on his fingers.
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
he is using my stuff as a base. None of the gundam maps produce sync issues.. however, I didn't fool with metal etc though. Is it possible that the engine is doing something wrong or certain lobbies are build script.txt wrong esp old versions of tasclient.
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
Weve eliminated script.txt, as one of the desynced players had this as script.txt:
Code: Select all
[GAME]
{
IsHost=0;
HostIP=89.236.66.1;
HostPort=8452;
MyPlayerName=[omfg]XD;
}
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
so why is his map desyncing? did you delete your paths folder artturi?
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial

Try putting out a version for some friends and you to play without a negative sun direction and see if the sync errors stop. The sun direction sync error bug is an old ghost bug that no one (including the devs) could ever pin to anything. I never got a sync error from this bug but in the games it was generally half and half (one have being sync error free and the other with nothing but sync errors). It's been years since I've heard of it rearing it's ugly head, but try it out nonetheless and see if it makes the sync errors stop (DSD long long ago was also plagued with this issue until Ice fixed it).
If you make that change and it fixes the problem, maybe once and for all it would allow us to nail down the bug.

test on 0.81RC please.

But that is freaking ridicilous + Can't change sun dir because its really delicately adjusted to allign with texture shadows.Forboding Angel wrote: Try putting out a version for some friends and you to play without a negative sun direction and see if the sync errors stop. Edit: And that theory has no sense, because there are tons of maps with negative values as sun dir. Why they are working properly then? Thanks for the suggestion though...
Can't do that either. Already tried but there were no volunteers to test...imbaczek wrote:test on 0.81RC please.
I'm releasing new version out. The heightmap is changed just a slightly to not mess up with later pathings... This is because we tested this theory with 5 players. New test build had nothing else changed but only the heightmap. Not a single sync error appeared.
Edit: So, that actually proves, that the mapoptions work and the map works great without any problems. But what the fuck goes wrong after I make official release?
also, jobjol upload is not replaced but made new one.
Geez, Im getting really paranoid and there's a huge cock growing from my forehead...
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
I never really believed the "negative sun direction" theory. It doesn't make one lick of sense.

Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
Ok, It still hasnt fixed! Im just so confused and out of my mind.
Version 3 first run all options on, no single sync error. Second run with all options on default and FAIL!
I need a syncdebug build. This is really breakin my balls...
Edit: Now I just need some volunteers to debug it...

Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
have you tested with 0.81? if not, don't bother with syncdebug.
Re: New map : FolsomDamSpecial
just to dip in with an encouraging word;
i've seen a lot of games played on this map; it has found wide acclaim within the community! i've even seen, shock of shocks, people trying to vote this map in, while the current map was dsd.
a quick question... i really like the effect you've achieved at the top of the dam with the intersection of the dirt road with the dam top, as well as the way the grass seems to clump at the edge of the dirt. was this achieved with bumpmaps, or was it all shooped? i was very impressed.

That's just a phase new 16 players maps go through until eventually DSD rolls back into play.KaiserJ wrote: i've seen a lot of games played on this map; it has found wide acclaim within the community! i've even seen, shock of shocks, people trying to vote this map in, while the current map was dsd.
