Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
Was sat speccing a game today.
Sync error appeared, i told the players that they should stop playing because soon they would be playing a different game.
Guess what happened?
[PinK]Triton kicks me from the lobby and game because he thinks he knows more about the engine.
fair enough he was talking bullshit about a tree that may have desynced the game, but when you watch the game and see one side not moving, you cannot deny its a real desync.
Now, i would have let that slide if he actually would have looked at this forum thread and maybe have said sorry, but then he thinks im trolling him.
now i know he's on the leading edge on being one of the biggest assholes in spring, but damn, really?
And dont even get me started on when beherith was involved.
What a joke of a moderator.

Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
i specced the game, i know what i saw.
Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
i played games where we had sync error messages since start of the game and we played for 15 or 25 minutes without problems. Good players know that anyway, i post it for nubs like spawn retards.
edit : watch replays if u really wanna know the truth retard, maybe you're too proud to admit you're wrong.

Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
Lolnubs, demos don't show desyncs...
Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
Sync errors always appear in Cooper now, they're almost invariably fake everytime. Well or at least I haven't seen a game where they are real.
Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
hm, crap ^^
anyway I am still sure that i played same games than basic, and I played many games with sync error messages, where all was fine.
I experienced fake and real sync errors and I am not alone to think this.
Good example are games on Bluebend.

Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
Triton, there is no such thing as a fake desync.
Just because the component of the simulation that is 'desynced' doesn't have a major impact or even a noticeable impact on the outcome of the game, doesn't make it 'fake'
e.g.
In my game I have a solar that is rotated to point south
BUT
In your game my solar is not rotated and points north instead
This scenario would generate a desync, because our games are not synced. HOWEVER, this would not affect the outcome of the game. This is your 'fake desync'
I get the impression your ignoring these posts of mine because they provide the answer to the 'fake desync' putting you in the wrong, willfull ignorance if you may

Re: SYNC ERRORS ARE REAL
I think we all understand that "fake" desyncs are not "fake" at all.
The problem arises from this: there are some great maps we can play. Some of them generate sync errors. Are the errors ignorable? In some cases yes, in some cases no. The problem is that some users know when you can ignore a sync error (because it has no impact on the game) and some users will continue to play unsynced games (because they are n00bs that can't recognize the symptoms of unsynced games).
I've been a part of Spring long enough to understand what it looks like when someone becomes unsynced. They are unresponsive, do not continue to build/fight, etc.
These ignorable sync errors are real. I'm still waiting on others to test LLTA and confirm. I also see real sync errors from time to time and ask people to leave when I see them.
Whether you agree or disagree, the problem MUST be fixed.
Are the errors "real"? FIX THEM AND WE DON'T HAVE TO ARGUE THIS ANYMORE.
Are the errors "fake"? FIX THEM AND W DON'T HAVE TO ARGUE THIS ANYMORE.
Really, what is there left to say? If they errors are eliminated (real or fake) then the problem is solved.
