mapinfo.lua?
I just made a quick test map with l3dt, and that java map editor. But when I try to use it, i just get a 'could not open file: maphelper/mapinfo.lua'. I didn't find anything about that in the tutorials, or on the forums... Did I just forget something?
Re: mapinfo.lua?
Beside the .smf and .smt files, you also need the .smd file. This is a text file you need to place next to your .smf and make it have the same name. You can use the smd files of other maps, just rename it.
Re: mapinfo.lua?
Mh, it just changed to "[string "maphelper/mapinfo.lua"]:69:testmap.smd: missing file" now. :) While I'm pretty sure that smd file should work, as it came from a working map. :p
Re: mapinfo.lua?
which map did the smd come from?
did you place all the files in a maps directory?
did you place all the files in a maps directory?
Re: mapinfo.lua?
A random map I found around here, Desert Delta Siege.
If you're willing to see what I did wrong yourself, http://www.filefront.com/15366345/testmap.sd7/ have fun. :)

Re: mapinfo.lua?
Your problem is that the mapinfo.lua cant still find your files, because you are not following proper folder hierarchy. smt, smf and smd files belongs to maps folder. Look at other maps to learn the folder hierarchy.
Re: mapinfo.lua?
Hah, great. I was wondering why the files in other sd7 folders had another maps folder, while they already were in a maps folder. Looks like that's the only way they work :) Thanks!SirArtturi wrote:Your problem is that the mapinfo.lua cant still find your files, because you are not following proper folder hierarchy. smt, smf and smd files belongs to maps folder. Just wondering, if it crashed and the infolog says "[ 15] Exception: Integer divide by zero (0xc0000094)" that's probably not map-related?
BTW Behereth, did the link not work, or didn't you find the download button? They have the bad habit of having ads with download buttons etc. on it. :)
Re: mapinfo.lua?
Hmm, the error is not in the smd file, its somewhere else, as Ive never seen spring fail like that on a map.
edit: I was retarded, i forgot the maps directory as well. do what lurker said :)

Re: mapinfo.lua?
A bit of info. You can put sd7/sdz files in either base, maps, or mods, whatever they are, and they work. Or you can extract them directly to your spring folder, and if you don't hit any bugs, they'll work (and screw up your ability to play any other games if it's a game you extract).erandur wrote:another maps folder
