No roadmap or specific goals, basically people just do whatever they want regardless of if it breaks anything... Basically the forum is just here for me to discuss what new things to mix into orange juice for a good buzz.

Disclosure: I'm somewhat biased because I've been trying to get a dev roadmap going for 3 years.

Disclosure: Skyy Vodka is superb in orange juice.

Disclosure: I'm a douchebag.

Either you've been redundant in your failure or you've deluded yourself into believing you're me.

Neddie, you have contributed a lot to the project and your effort is appreciated.
Caydr Maybe it would be a good idea to discuss A roadmap directly with the devs and not in public threads.
There might be some issues you are not aware of and some that the devs are not aware off but it is probably less productive to make threads about it in the forums.
I suggest pming and trying to contact them directly through the lobby.

I'm not really up to date with the conflict between caydr and the moderation team.
Whatever it is though, maybe it can be resolved in a peaceful manner so that everyone feels they got what they want?
This has spilled over to several threads already.
Maybe Caydr can be given full rights back and in exchange Caydr will promise to be a bit more square about the forum rules?
So there were some disputes about posts,we all judge these matters differently and Caydr has been away for a while.
I am sure Caydr is now more in tune with how moderation is in Spring and will follow the rules closer.
Since this has crossed over to personal lines maybe a different moderator can get involved instead of those that have a conflict with Caydr and resolve htis in PM?

You mean rehabilitation instead of imprisonment/punishment? MADNESS!

Also I restructured your post a bit for better readability.

I propose we radically improve our image to the outside world by prefixing our next version number with the number 1, so it looks less unfinished to developers...

Because then AF will criticize you for jumping a full version number arbitrarily, even if you just implemented a completely new effects system before anyone else had even figured out how to use it.

Disclosure: That happened.

Disclosure: I'd like "Disclosure: I'm a douchebag" added to my signature please.

Disclosure: I know I can add that myself but it won't appear in the forum.

Disclosure: I know signatures have been globally disabled.

Disclosure: I think I'll just add "Disclosure: I'm a douchebag" to all pertinent posts myself, so no need to concern yourself with it.

Disclosure: Shit, I can't do that because I can't edit my posts.

If you want a playerbase, you need to make it nub friendly.

For one thing, I suggest the lobbies automate all the command processes and use some nice buttons or menu options instead.

For example, if you're a channel op, just right clicking somebody's name in the channel should bring up a bunch of options such as mute, kick, ban etc.

And there's another thing, we were promised uberserver fucking ages ago now and still no sign... Could you at least implement a proper ban command until uberserver is released?

Oh and if we actually made some people who spend most the time in the lobby talking instead of doing stuff or playing games, we could actually get a decent support team.

Having to wait hours for a response is ridiculous in an instant message system. Also, that would reduce the number of "HELP ME I'M BROKEN" threads on the forums.

Here's my proposal of structure:
  • 1: Fix bugs and any major issues
  • 2: Polish any half working or useless features up
  • 3: Add new features and do what you like

We may see 1.0 but the engine will never be final. I never use version numbers in the software I make, prefer to use dates instead.

This post is V2009.12.21a.

Did you not notice the times uberserver was in place for a day or two?

Old stuff not breaking with new releases would be pretty cool.
