hmm what websites are they? Chrome always does show the status bar when necessary, and hides it when nothing is happening.

Without any extensions, there are only ever five buttons on show, with a 6th optional home button

I can do the same thing in Firefox. However Chrome cannot do what Firefox can do. Therefore Firefox > Chrome.
