Can't edit mah posts... (NSFW)
Is there something wrong with my browser or has the forum just developed another quirk? I don't have an edit button at all. I have gotten in the habit of writing posts as sort of a rough draft, then fixing them up for about 5-10 minutes afterward as permitted by my busy, busy, busy schedule.

Re: Can't edit mah posts...
I've got a quote button and the contact buttons (pm, profile, etc) but no edit. And, btw, my post count is going to grow explosively if this isn't fixed, due to aforementioned post-post editing.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
Post-post... oh Caydr, you inimitable icon of wasted creativity.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
Should I have capitalized "Caydr"? That might've made me look like I have ego problems. Lots of people purposefully enlowercase their names to make them seem like they put a low emphasis on personal value. Oh, but then I might look like a trendy iPod-using attention whore, better to leave it capitalized, I reckon.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
Of course, I DO have ego problems, but only the kind I display intentionally so as to give myself that Maddox/Yahtzee/4chan/hateful-douchebag image, allowing me a greater range of expression. Or at least, that's my experience.
You see, I can post [Something Antisemitic] in response to a picture of someone falling off their roof while putting up Christmas decorations, and people will immediately recall that just two posts previous I claimed that [Something Racist and Anti-Science].

Re: Can't edit mah posts...
To answer your question: No.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
I meant to hit "Preview" but I hit "Post" by accident, I apologize.
It's sort of like the way that high dynamic range photography allows a cameraman to capture a wider range of color, while normally whole spectrums of light would be overblown or lost to the darkness. I have my "normal" interactions with people, and then I have ones that are clearly intended to be so overblown that they couldn't actually be intended. This allows me to communicate as if I was expressing my voice in a more realistic, lifelike manner.
Or at least, that's my experience. Curiously, this can also be compared to HDR photography. An individual who doesn't realize an image is HDR might assume it was just rather dark that day, or that there was perfect studio lighting in the scene. So, while the cameraman, or in my case, vitriolic poster, is capturing a wider range of color, the viewer doesn't realize that this is the case and concludes that I actually believe [Something Antisemitic].

Re: Can't edit mah posts...
Ah, you edited my post, I apologize for partially re-posting the deleted content but at present I am unable to unrepost it.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
Can't very easily do that now can I? I can only delete my very most recent post, which in any case you've now posted after thereby removing my ability to delete it.lurker wrote:Delete button?Caydr wrote:I meant to hit "Preview" but I hit "Post" by accident, I apologize.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
VERY strange.
If it's helpful, I'm using Firefox 3.6 beta 4. I will try going back to a previous version.

Re: Can't edit mah posts...
I haven't edited anything. And yes, you can't delete a post once it has been replied to. It's only for those 'oops didn't mean to hit that button' moments.
As to why you don't have an edit button, it's something about you editing posts to be more/less offensive and edit-warring with moderators.

Re: Can't edit mah posts...
I do not and never have "edit warred" with moderators. If one of them adds something to one of my posts, I do not modify it or remove it. I, on one occasion, removed an obvious taunt that a moderator had added to a thread title. I don't recall the context or exactly what it said, there was a heated argument going on at the time.
Is this in retaliation for so vocally agreeing with the concensus that the moderation here is generally inadequate and is prone to taking unnecessary action at random while ignoring necessary action depending on a given moderator's mood and/or affiliations?

Re: Can't edit mah posts...
As an aside I appreciate that Sinbad is actually signing his edits so that in the event I disagreed with them, I could contact him to determine what I had actually done wrong rather than wade through a bureaucracy of people who weren't involved with the incident in question.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
edit: That sort of accountability is EXACTLY what I'd like to see more of.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
I only edited your post to increase the humor of it... it does appear that edit is unavailable to you... odd that... who else can't edit their posts?
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
I don't know, just repeating what I've been told.
Re: Can't edit mah posts...
edit: so that in the event I, say, have the ability to edit my posts taken away, I can discuss it with the individual who made that decision and not with people who can only conclude I'm having browser problems. It being PUBLIC that a certain individual edited a post is also very good, since it will prevent one moderator from abusing his or her power.
