Various problems ans questions (game freezes on launch)

Post by nawoa »

Maps and mods are now stored in each user's Documents, right? What about lua settings? They are still saved in the Spring directory so they are the same for all users, shouldn't this be changed?

Download page still gives you the old version if you try to download the portable archive.

I can't launch Spring regardless of map, mod, or start script. I have reduced all settings to minimum and deleted everything but XTA and DSD from my computer. I am using the most recent installer.

That's as far as the game gets, then it just waits and waits never progressing.

As you can see I am using Windows 7 RC but Spring has worked fine up to short while ago I'm not sure when. Nothing is overclocked and I have 60 GB free on my hard drive. I have reduced to zero or disabled every graphic settings including water. Radeon 4870 1gb, C2D. Computer does not show any normal signs of problem, very clean install no spyware or junk.

I have now tried resetting all settings to defaults, the game will still not start.

I have the exact same problem.
It happens when I start a SP game from springlobby (using spring.exe works fine), and when I try to watch a replay.
For me, a window comes up, then minimises straight away, and when I let it pop up again all I got is a black window (I tried waiting for 10 minutes: nothing happened)

I got an nvidia 9600 GT, quad core CPU.
I am running vista

About the black window issue:
Launch spring.exe (not from lobby), maximize it, close it, then it should work fine again.
