Can we get an optional mod tag that does the following:

NOFPSOBEYARC1 = true on default
false behavior: the unit will not allow for aiming beyond the arc defined in the weapon def.

NOFPSTURNWITHCAMERA = true on default.
false behavior: When a player tries to turn to a direction beyond his/her unit's primary front arc the unit will then turn to that direction.

and finally

PLEASE DO NOT HIGHJACK THE THREAD WITH WHATEVER BULLSHIT YOU WANT TO SEE HAPPEN! START YOUR OWN THREAD!

I like both of them, +1. Especially the turn-with-arc thing, that's something I've wanted for ages, it would make FPS-like games a lot more practical.

Two ideas:

1. Make the arc thing something that can be turned on/off with Lua on the fly, so if people want full Mechwarrior-type control and flip between modes, they can have that.

2. Have a mode where the Unit attempts to turn (or if a plane, orient) to face the mouse vector at all times, turning faster / slower depending on how far the mouse goes from the center, for flexible realtime steering.

both ideas would be awesome but the trick is will someone do them.

Yeah, I know.

Have you had time to look at KDR's plane thing yet? I haven't, so I'm not sure how big of a deal it would be to expand that UI schema. That may be another solution, IDK.

it plays fine but all of the fps/tps stuff has massive issues with lag. Apparently lua is not the best way to do things like controls.
