gentoo ebuild: No 7z

Post by chriss99 »

Hi, i'm trying to compile spring 0.80.5 on gentoo, and it says
Error: Could not find 7z.

the ebuild says, that zlib instead is required (which is installed). So I guess, it should be changed in the Makefile, too?
Need any more information?

Greetings

just for personal interest: I think 7z wasn't needed before, why is it now?

Map and mod and other content archives are 7zipped.

yeah, I know, but the 7-zip package was installed only now. Previous version of spring used something else for decompressing the 7z maps/mods

It's needed because one of the buildscripts now uses the 7z tool instead of zip (although the format is still the same...) to create the gamedata archive files (springcontent.sdz, etc) after compilation.

Speaking of the ebuild, what's the status of getting it merged into mainline gentoo? Last I heard it was rejected for being too unstable or being updated too frequently but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Is it worth resubmitting for consideration?

hm, it seems that the requst-thread doesn't have a discussion since about one year, so maybe spring has now a chance.
