LOLbama Money!!!

Post by Forboding Angel »

When I heard this I laughed till I cried. It's just so sad, but hilarious!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKb78kJhaMw
Some of my favorite quotes from the handout of ÔÇ£Obama cash!ÔÇØ in detroit. 60,000 people turned out applications for 3,500 spots to receive free cash from the president. When we say the president we mean from your wallet.

The people in this video are clawing fighting to get a share of you money. Instead of you spending what you earned on your family, Obama has decided to just hand it all out to the welfare recipients of Detroit.

Some of the geniuses who are getting your money in the form of welfare handouts.

VIDEO #1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCJz9sNLShw

1. ÔÇ£Dats da problem with the city of Detroit nobody want to take accountability!ÔÇØ 1:27 of video.

Says the women standing in a line to be handed someone elses money, nice accountability.

2. ÔÇ£Thank you barrack Obama! we love you!ÔÇØ

Thanking him for stealing the $15,000,000 from those of us who work and pay taxes, many of which are Republicans who do not support handouts or ÔÇ£redistributingÔÇØ the wealth in a communist manner. Obama gets credit for handing out money from my wallet? Only in a liberal world could that happen.

VIDEO #2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTV4xZR4vTo

1. They were lined up by the thousands, you could get dizzy looking at this line!ÔÇØ

All this happened on a Thursday afternoon, and work weekday, thank god nobody was busy looking for work instead.

2. ÔÇ£Its hard on your back!ÔÇØ 1:45

She is referring to standing in line for cash, but its better than working for a living.

3. ÔÇ£Im not frustrated cause my reward is gittin dat monaaaaayÔÇØ1:59

If you are reading this, then thatÔÇÖs your money that woman is talking about.
Did anyone else laugh when they heard this?

And this is different to Bush giving corporate charity of $12 trillion dollars... how?

Oh wait, maybe it's different because the sum is several orders of magnitude less and the people receiving Obama's charity are... you know.. actually poor.

Saving Wall Street from a problem that originated in Washington, mainly at the behest of the Democrats who controlled Fannie Mae (and certainly helped by Europeans- read up on the accountancy changes that were one of the root causes of the speculative meltdown, it's interesting) is hardly the same thing as throwing around taxpayers' money to the poor.

That said... a better way of putting your comment, tbh, would be "15 million for poor folks in Detroit, vs. billions for Afghanis who still hate our guts and blow our people up on a regular basis?". Nothing like putting numbers in context...

Stocks and high finance is little more than a sophisticated form of gambling. You bet on which stocks/bonds/currencies will "win". Fannie Mae and friends bet on houses at risky odds and lost.

People who gamble on investments and lose need to walk away from the table, not stick their hands (lobbyists) out asking for their losses back.

On the other hand unemployment can result from factors outside of your control. In Detroit's case you cannot ignore the fact that the collapse of the American automotive industry is largely responsible for the current unemployment levels.

I'm sorry but 40 year-old windshield wiper installers are largely unemployable and you can't just expect them to start writing web pages or whatever.

In short the investors deserved what happened, because they were being greedy; while the Detroit unemployed were largely victims of global labour market shifts and automation.

Making profits from an investment is not generally considered a human rights issue, whereas people starving to death and dying from treatable illnesses is. A caring person would be happy to see a minimum safety net protect people from suffering. That's welfare.

I think FA's priorities and perspective must be a little fucked up from watching too much Fox or something.

I don't watch fox. Secondly, it had nothing to do with Obama, and everything to do with the stupidity of the people on tape.

Understandable. I guess poor people should be more careful to look miserable when there are cameras around.

yawn

i imagine he was probably referring mostly to massive corporate and upper 1% tax breaks

so your problem is not with the war, but rather with the "winning hearts and minds" idea? what.

not one of the people quoted is stupid just from the evidence here, sorry. considering your sources are rush limbaugh and a couple of random youtubes, i'm not really convinced this is exactly as you've portrayed it, but if you were offered free money, you'd take it, surely. it's no different to a business ripping off customers.

Interesting that cnn, nbc, abc, etc didn't report it though right? Random youtubes were taken from local news media, in case you didn't notice.

Btw in case you still don't get it, the answer to the question is: The Taxpayers

No, I was referring to Senator Henry Waxman, et al- the jokers who got funny loans from Countrywide and kept Fannie Mae pushing bad paper on its books long after it was obviously a bad idea.

<shrugs> So far as I can tell, both political parties were jointly responsible for the train wreck that is the American economy. That's why it's been a lot less partisan (at least, over here) than you'd initially expect- there's plenty of serious mud available, and there's been surprisingly-little slinging this time. I guess M.A.D. applies to politicians like everybody else. There's plenty of evidence and analysis available, if you'd care to read stuff that isn't just talking-heads material, and if your view of the situation is really that one-dimensional, I'd honestly recommend reading more serious material.

I really should listen to the AM radio more, that one would've given me a laugh. This is an example of our school systems outright failing. I want to know how many of those people didn't graduate from high school. They don't seem to realize how our economy works.

I really think political discussion should be banned, this really isn't the place for it. There are tons of herpa derpa political forums where people can be misinformed and full of themselves with others who think the same.

What? No, I just don't want to hear people's fucking opinions. This site should be about spring and spring related things. Not I HAET DEMOCRATES, I HATE REPUBLICANS, CAPITOLISM IS EVIL, KILL ALL MEXICANS etc...

That shit shouldn't belong anywhere and least of all here.

Maybe like at TAU, there should be a T&D sub-forum to cast all the political & creationist flamewars into.

There's nothing wrong with political discussion in an off-topic forum. At least, not until some standards are put in place. Consider the discussions that have taken place here in the past, and you will see this is nothing out of the ordinary.

I quite like off topic for this reason, I know there's a lot of geeks here so I can share things that are relevant to me and they're often relevant to other people. I can make jokes, and at the same time I'm revered as a god. It's great.

Back on topic:

I didn't watch the videos so I'll assume the worst: There's a government guy standing on the corner with briefcases full of millions of dollars, giving it out to anyone who asks. Someone walks up, he says "how much do you want?", and then he gives it to them.

Now, were that the case, I would say, "this is a disgusting case of government mismanagement". And then I would say, "Thank goodness it's Obama-style mismanagement, where people don't die."
