How do you need an adv energy store for that? Per second is useless anyway, per shot is more important. Fusions give storage, if you dont have enough e prod to give enough storage you really dont have enogh e to power it either. Not unless you can settle for the fire rate of a bertha with it...el_matarife wrote:Anyway, am I crazy for thinking the Vulcan and Buzzsaw should come with enough energy storage to fire them for at least one second? (18K and 21K respectively) I think it is pretty "user hostile" for us to assume that people will know to build an advanced energy storage if it isn't in the tool tip. Come to think of it, none of the units that require energy per second to fire list it in their tool tips.

Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire
A related issue: in order for the game to be more newbie-friendly, it would be nice if the buildpics had some kind of indication of the price of the item. E.g. some little icon like a dollar symbol with five different levels for (1) something that is feasible to build when you have no eco (comm and builder only), (2) something that is feasible to build with basic L1 eco (a few advsolars etc), (3) stuff for what you want to have a fusion for, (4) expensive stuff (multiple fusions needed, e.g. L3 platform, liches and advanced fusions) and (5) fucking expensive stuff that you really don't want to build without supereco (krogoth, flagships, vulcan, ...).
The purpose of this is to give some overview of the rough cost of the item, considering the combination of energy, metal and buildtime required for building the item.
Additionally, a similar indicator, displaying the current status of player's eco, could be displayed next to the resource bars as a reference to compare against.
Of course this icon would only help newbies to avoid misjudgement of cost of something and it would not fix the issue that Vulcan and Buzzsaw simply SUCK and really need to be either fixed or removed from the game.

Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire
liches need multiple fusions to make? :O
Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire
Well, it is a borderline case and you certainly can do one with just one fusion (especially if you have plenty of mexes so no MM eco is needed). However, for that to be useful, you need to know what you are doing. For most targets you are better off with regular bombers which are much cheaper.
Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire
@Tronic: a UI tip indicating "too expensive" would probably be good. And a notice of which units are "advanced players only".
Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire
t2 facs should definitely fall under that at least. noobs wouldnt be happy...
Maybe there should also be a tooltip tag marking "total shit", next to units such as t1 arty, guardian, amphib trans, static flak etc. to warn beginners.
and usually i make liche with zero fusions

So we're really talking about SpeedMetal, aren't we?

Re: vulcan / buzzsaw don't fire
A few shots worth of energy storage is probably fine too, say 5 shots worth? I'm just thinking for something that fires as rapidly as these units do one shot's worth of storage really isn't sufficient.JohannesH wrote: How do you need an adv energy store for that? And saying "Well there's no way you can generate enough energy to build it and not be able to power it" isn't strictly true, since the Vulcan and Buzzsaw have such huge build times. You could easily build it over a 10 minute period in the background on the income from 4-5 fusions and only have ~12,500 energy storage if your Commander is dead. (The math on building it is pretty simple, 5 adv con vehicles can build one in 9 minutes with ~1,000 energy per second spent. That's the output of one fusion. Fusions are only 2,500 energy storage each, Advanced Fusions have a much more reasonable 25,000 but not everyone wants to build those thanks to the size of their explosion.) Those fusions won't give you enough power to fire it "full bore", but they should still fire it pretty fast.

Yes but who said that anywhere?el_matarife wrote:And saying "Well there's no way you can generate enough energy to build it and not be able to power it" isn't strictly true, since the Vulcan and Buzzsaw have such huge build times.

I summarized what you said rather than quoting the whole thing. I apologize if you think I mischaracterized your remarks.JohannesH wrote: How do you need an adv energy store for that? meh, there are quite a few non-speedmetal maps that overly high wind (eg Charlie in the Hills)Pxtl wrote:So we're really talking about SpeedMetal, aren't we?
