Sound distance decay mod option

Post by bartvbl »

I am quite annoyed at the sound becoming softer over distance, as in the end you select something, and you can't hear its response at all. I looked into the BA and spring code, but couldn't find much help in there. Tobi told me that there was supposed to be an option in the spring engine to turn that sound decay on and off. Would it be an idea to implement this as a mod option, so you can turn it on or off?

Selection sound decaying over distance sounds like a bug.

I mean like the volume of the sound becomes softer once you move away from the source with your camera. But I don't think it is a bug: both me and a friend have the problem while we have totally different computers.

That sounds like a bug.

The specific problem is that the "make sounds software as camera is farther away" code should be checking for "is not the currently selected unit making a selection noise"

Right...
So that was why I couldn't find any distance calculation inside the source code of the spring engine...
