Make a Campaign
I've been looking at that lua thing that just got added and it looks to me that someone could write a campaign now.
It should be possible to write a program that writes out testscript.lua, generates maps or units or whatever, and then starts TASpring. When TASpring is done (scenario is complete) the program could set up the next scenario and show the user text or pictures or whatever.
I'm going to take a swing at it and see what I can come up with.

Actually, I have essentially no mapmaking skills, so I was going to have the campaign program generate them (probably by seeding a random number generator).
First off, though, I plan to build the first couple on whatever maps I happen to have around and aren't too big.
I should be able to have an AI DLL take care of in-game sound and writing down everything that the campaign engine would need to know.
I have the cliifdown map, core prime industrial, and the ones that came with TASpring (comet catcher, green divide, I think).
I'll have to take another look at the lua thing before I can plan too far ahead, though.

Randomly generate a map, or randomly pick from a preselected map?
I think you will find the former to be nigh on impossible to do with any playable outcome, let alone something that looks good.
On the otherhand, if demonstrate reasonable skill in making a mission, I'm sure you'll have mappers lining up to make maps for your missions.

Now what would be really nice however is a mission editor. Sure, I can make a mission script with the text editor of my choice, but it is pretty boring to add the coordinates and such for the units. Not to mention that I don't even know what you can exactly do with it, so personally I'd rather first have a mission editor than a campaign program.
Or just a Mission ~ Map ~ Script editor all in one!
:p
And even making Missions with the possibilities Starcraft have for instance
you can make tones of spawns and then kill other people with all ur fellahs, those games in starcraft were very fun, also the defence games where everone would co-operate and then swarms of mobs would come and kill an artifact or goto a zone and you must protect it or els u die.
I actually made a huge one... oh well it was very fun
Spring kinda needs 2 support more units on a worser computer, i mean 1500 units on my 2ghz pretty much eats my 512 ram and i get blue screens :D
So yeah -_-

Why not remake The Original Total annihilation Missions but put some more stoirs to each of the missions or something like expand them out Give the players a bit of a suprise.
If not why dont we all create A New story For TA missions A new start, Middle and finsh.
This gives us the chance and oppertunity To do something new here why not take it.

Because most people here comes from TA, so have played TA, so have played the missions (I don't know for you but eight year ago single player was more widespread than multiplayer), so won't want to replay them.DeathHawk wrote:Why not remake The Original Total annihilation Missions ...
Remaking The Original Total Annihilation Missions would be very tedious and pointless and too limiting. And those missions weren't that good in the first place.
Just let mission maker step in and do whatever they want. Once many missions are already done, then we'll think about what kind of campaign Spring could have.
