Re: Cement factory
Ignoring the being clueless about politics, all of us are clueless about the cement factory. Can you answer some of the questions about why it's bad? What kind of noise and pollution, are they even making cement?
Re: Cement factory
I'm not sure.
Since i havn't been aware of this until a few days ago.
I saw one of their leaflets near my house...
Unfortunately there was no phone number where I'd be able to get any information about all of the details.
They just wrote where and when the meeting will take place and a rough idea what it will be about.
Maybe they think all the neighborhood is already aware of this issue..

If i'm not mistaken You are British,so i am not surprised at all by your comments in light of the slow change of the general attitude of the UK towards Israel.tombom wrote:protest the fact that israel treats its arab citizens as second-class (+worse) instead
It is sad to see britain, morally,on it's knees like that andi do mean it.
Especially in light of the release of the terrorist that was responsible for the death of several hundred UK citizens back to lybia.
I wonder how the people that had relatives on that plane feel right now...
Maybe you should look into why he was released instead of throwing silly accusations and judging a situation you know even less about.
Re: Cement factory
al-megrahi was most likely innocent, his trial was deeply flawed and many of the relatives in britain thought so and fought for a re-trial. also i'm pretty sure the uk+us aren't about to just go "welp yeah actually we hate israel now". the concept that it would be somehow wrong morally is bizarre though.Gota wrote:If i'm not mistaken You are British,so i am not surprised at all by your comments in light of the slow change of the general attitude of the UK towards Israel.tombom wrote:protest the fact that israel treats its arab citizens as second-class (+worse) instead

Not that this has any relation to treatment of Arab citizens of Israel.
Re: Cement factory
idk. people complain about some stupid stuff.
like near where i live, they were trying to put in a skateboard park. it was meant to be in one of the less affluent parts of my city (because after all, we're all living the high life in T.O.)
the skateboard area was to be inserted into a city park, which currently is normally empty, except at night when you have the usual clashes between european immigrant gangs and african immigrant gangs. you'd think people would prefer skateboarding to knife battles, but no.
the skateboard park was shut down by five (count 'em, five) people waving placards saying things like "skateboarding is noisy" and "this is contaminated soil, dont dig!" (i mean wtf seriously. why no complain about the contaminated soil? or do you just keep it around in case someone wants to make a skateboard park)
so yes. a few more years will go by, and a few more kids who WOULD have been misled and gotten into skateboarding will now be able to join in the joys of knife fighting, a neighbourhood tradition.
gota : the most important thing... generally when a city makes an exception to something like a dirty factory or a dump or something like that, they are doing it to offset fiscal debt. if that's the case, and the general population of your town/city will benefit from it, then i'd be 100% behind the cement factory construction.
edit : KDR! i have that game, but not the funny little batteries to make it go.
