Looks like ass, and not in the good Las Vegas way. The tooltip that is.

Either way, I freeze KP into 3.6 and go make installer now.

Gratz on MidKnight for succesfully getting something to happen out of his thread.

I didn't come across very nice. My comment is really just that it doesn't look very attractive and modern compared with alternatives in other GUIs, or GUIs from any game in general. It looks rather like something someone cooked up in Photoshop in 5 minutes because they got called on having never followed through on a months-old promise.

Z, you have a lot of scripting talent as we all know, maybe the time is right to make your skill set more well-rounded by learning some photoshop.

He'll learn that about the same time you learn basic BOS, I suspect

You really don't want to go there, man. You're the easiest target here.

This is supcom's. If you'd rather preferred this style, I could make it. I personally like to think that my submission was a step above an empty frame with neat glow effects and shadows, which is what supcom (FA) uses.

It took much longer than 5 minutes.

Now, please, let's stop derailing the thread and throwing flames.

EDIT: that supcom tooltip picture gave me a few ideas...

I don't use Photoshop, but Paint Shop Pro and Gimp, and lack artistic talent when it comes to drawing, but I already know how to make images, from a technical standpoint. See for instance the detailtex of the Data Cache map, the ONS shield textures, every KP icons, the byte and bit laser, ...

I thought the simple fluo green rectangle previously used as tooltip background was good enough, and don't see how a background image would enhance it, so I didn't bother spending time making one. Then MidKnight said he would made one. Althought I didn't think it was needed, I was happy to see someone else wanting to help with KP so tried to encourage him.

If you feel like doing more, then are other GUI elements to redo, yeah. Oh, and the white-grey just out of edge doesn't look that good against a black background. I see you corrected the mismatch at the jointure of - and \ but the green line looks less like having a roundish relief now. :?

Sorry if I offended you or MidKnight, I didn't really mean what I said as an attack, rather as an unbiased 3rd party opinion. I do not feel that the tooltip graphic, the tooltip font/font size, or the KP GUI in general are very attractive. Have you considered starting over with a pre-made GUI and customizing it?

Red UI for instance is coming along very well, does not destroy my FPS, and is highly customizable. What's not currently possible can be hacked into it and you'd at least have a better foundation to build on. The code is nicely commented and...

...well if you need any stronger endorsement, even I am able to modify it to suit my needs. Me. This thing has the potential to stop world hunger.

I am not considering that.

Those GUI will probably be GPL, requires me to replace and add tons of messy files in KP, be made with only *A mods in mind and be wholly unadapted for KP, eat half of my GPU and CPU, have so many windows all over the place you can't even see the damn game, and be so highly customiseable you end up with a wrecked GUI setting saved forever in settings if you click in the wrong place once.

If you feel so strongly, fine, but know that everything you just said was wrong because those behaviors can be disabled. As for the GPL issue, you could try asking... I saw Smoth ask about changing license terms on a widget and the guy didn't have a problem with it.

Interestingly, making this thread resulted in a few game projects I owed content to to call in their favors, and, resultantly, I managed to build up the level of productivity that is self-sustaining, and thus must go back to making models and stuff for CA. :|

If anybody wants to further this idea, I couldn't encourage them more, and will contribute content if i see stuff going on around this project, but for now I'm going to be busy working towards making CA IP-free.

I'd really love to see someone take over this project. :-)
