Speaking of which, has the annoying "comm wreck 1 is catapulted by the explosion of comm boom 2" thing? Because that really screwed up the comm balance. Knowing that a failed commrush would give the enemy 2 commwrecks made it a lot more serious than only 1 commwreck.

No
There's currently not too much wrong with his statement there. Air starting on anything except superspeed is really a waste of time and (quite literally) energy.
Not exactly, it depends primarily on use, the increased mobility for your starting buildpower can compensate under the right player.

The only advantage that starting air buildpower affords you is early reclamation. Applying the term "buildpower" to t1 construction aircraft is very ironic, since that is precisely what they lack. Unless you're going for early metal stealing, sending vehicle or kbot cons using the new and improved transporter widget is much more effective than using air cons.

I was referring to using the transport the factory permits to move my starting buildpower, otherwise known as my commander, around, which is why I often start Air quite successfully in larger games. After that the factory runs scouting and/or bombing forces usually.

Aha! But that's what we've been saying all along: you start air to trans your boi around!

I don't see why that would be a problem at all, I don't waste my commander on bombs, particularly not early game.
