Spring crashes on load up

Hi this is my 1st time posting here so ill try to provide the best info i can on my problem..

after installing spring and updating I have tried to run the mods (TA mods and 1944) but when i click on start a black box flashes on screen and disappears and says spring has crashed. this happens on test mode too except i get a loading screen that crashes after it loads the last step. I had an older comp that had no problems running the games but my theory is that its vista or the ATI 4850 card that came with the new comp im using. Heres the crash text:

any ideas or theories I just want to know if it will even work thx.

Graphics driver crash. Try another driver and/or different graphics settings in spring. Please note that an older driver is sometimes better.

Hi, welcome to the Spring forums.

My suspicions are that you have a set of ATI drivers incompatible with Spring. My suggestion is to update to the latest ATI driver release if you haven't done so already. If you have, then I've heard you may need to downgrade to a specific release that works with Spring. Someone more knowledgeable should post in this thread soon. Good luck.

Thx ill see what i can do. Its a shame because i really enjoy the mods and the epic scale of the maps and battles.

disable shorewaves if you're using bumpwater, also disable fps manager widget.

thx.. but where do i disable the fps widget. and i updated to 80.4 and now thers a few more errors.. im not sure if it should be posted on the same bug problem though.
