Well... life works better when everyone speaks the same language... it's not saying anything against other languages... it's just that pretty much everyone speaks english... if we had forums for every different language then people would keep to themselves in those forums and the project would stall from bloat... I think at least...
problem is, none of the real meat of developement is going to show up there... though I would encourage y'all to make your own forum for chatting about spring, and then maybe y'all can translate all the docs and news and then maybe even make it a project to add multi-ligual support to the code... could be cool... but it would take a dedicated french/english speaker to set up the forum and make sure it made the system accessible to frech speakers... especially helping the coding efforts of french speakers who wants to help out...
If we have a French forum, we'd need a Swedish forum. And then the SYs would talk between themselves and probably tell dirty jokes and stuff and we'd all be excluded from the development process.
If he wants to build and manage an unofficial french website with forums then why should we stop him? I say just the opposite, advertize him and link him here where we get the oppertunity.
However, I don't think trying to support official multi lingual forum bases will work for the spring site. Effectively you then need to get several moderators because english speakers can't moderate in french. You need to support at least the 5 some odd major languages so as not to be predjudiced, and you drasticly increase the size of the forums for hosting. Could you imagine the SYs trying to deal with complaints about moderators in languages they don't understand from forums they can't read?

Heh, for some reason I think it's far more likely that english will just become the accepted international standard language then esperanto ever catching on... That is unless the USA adopts esperanto as thier national language.
well if you feel like making a French forum, more power to ya! But don't forget to occasionally drop by and say hello so you know what going on here...
